WAC Lighting WAC-PD-42909 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How high a ceiling can the WAC Napa PD-42909 pendant hang from?
The Napa PD-42909 adjusts from a 15 inch minimum overall height to 149 inches maximum. It ships with 160 inches of wire plus three 12 inch downrods and one 6 inch downrod, so you can build out to the full drop without buying extra parts for most ceilings. Taller drops need additional downrods, which are sold separately.
2) Will the Napa LED pendant mount on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The canopy includes a hang-straight swivel, so the pendant hangs plumb on a sloped ceiling. It is a rod-hung, ceiling-mounted fixture and the canopy measures 4.75 inches across, which covers a standard round pancake box.
3) Does the PD-42909 pendant need an LED driver or transformer?
No. It runs on 120V AC LED technology at 15W, so no remote driver or transformer is required. It wires straight to line voltage and fits a pancake junction box. 277V, 240V and custom color temperature versions are special order.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC Napa LED pendant?
It requires an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer for smooth, continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/forward-phase (TRIAC) dimmer is not the correct control for this fixture, so if you are standardizing on a building dimmer, specify ELV.
5) Can this pendant go over a bathroom vanity or a covered porch?
It is rated for damp locations and carries an IP44 rating with ETL and cETL listings, so it works in a bathroom or under a covered exterior ceiling such as a porch or soffit. It is not rated for wet locations, meaning direct rain exposure or an uncovered location is out.
6) Can the LED be replaced in the Napa pendant, or is it sealed?
The LED is integrated and included, with no socket or lamp base to relamp. Rated life is 50,000 hours, which is why WAC calls it maintenance free. For MRO planning, treat the fixture as the replacement unit, not the lamp.
7) Does the WAC Napa PD-42909 meet California Title 24?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which matters on California residential and multi-family permits. It is not Energy Star rated, and it is not an ADA-compliant fixture, though ADA projection limits generally apply to wall-mounted luminaires rather than ceiling-hung pendants.
8) What finish and color temperature does the 6 inch Napa pendant come in?
The 6 inch Napa pendant is built in black with a white sanded acrylic diffuser, and the light source is 3000K warm white. The body is aluminum, with the shade in extruded acrylic. If you need a different color temperature to match existing fixtures, custom CCT is a special-order option.
