1) Can the WAC Dot 15 inch LED flush mount be used outdoors in an exposed location like an open porch or a coastal walkway ceiling?
Yes. The Dot 15 inch round flush mount is wet location rated and IP65, so direct rain and washdown exposure are fine on an open soffit, porch ceiling or exterior wall. For salt air, order the 316 marine grade stainless steel version; the other option is powder coated aluminum. ETL and cETL listed for the US and Canada.
2) Does the WAC Dot 15 inch flush mount need a remote driver or transformer?
No. It runs on 120V AC LED technology with everything on board, so there is no transformer or remote driver to find space for above the ceiling. A 277V version exists as a special order if you are feeding it off a commercial lighting panel.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Dot 15 inch LED fixture?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The fixture is ELV dimmable and runs smooth and continuous on one. A standard incandescent/TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not the right control for it.
4) Can the WAC Dot 15 inch round be mounted on a wall, or is it ceiling only?
Both. It is rated for ceiling or wall mounting, so the same fixture can serve as an exterior ceiling light on a soffit or as a wall-mounted disc beside a door. Hardwired in either orientation, with a 15 inch backplate to cover the box.
5) How much light does the 15 inch WAC Dot put out, and how many do I need for a covered patio?
2460 lumens from 26.6 watts, with a flood distribution, so it washes a broad area rather than spotting. That is enough for general ceiling illumination over a patio or breezeway bay; on a long covered walkway plan on spacing multiples rather than relying on one.
6) Will the WAC Dot flush mount pass an ADA clearance check in a corridor or stairwell?
Yes, when wall mounted. The Dot is ADA compliant and projects 2.5 inches from the surface, inside the 4 inch protrusion limit for wall-mounted objects in circulation paths. Overall diameter is 15 inches.
7) Does this WAC fixture meet California Title 24 for an outdoor residential project?
