WAC Lighting WAC-FM-4615 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC Geos FM-4615 flush mount work on a standard 4 inch junction box?
Yes. The Geos FM-4615 mounts to a 4 inch junction box, with the universal input driver sitting on the backplate at 2.76 x 1.26 x 1.18 inches. The 15 inch backplate covers the box completely, and the twist-lock mechanism means no visible mounting hardware once the fixture is up.
2) Can the WAC Geos FM-4615 be used in a bathroom or a covered porch?
It carries a Damp location rating and an IP44 rating, so it works in a bathroom ceiling and under a covered exterior area such as a porch soffit or breezeway. It is not rated for wet locations, so keep it out of direct rain or spray.
3) What dimmer do I need for the WAC Geos LED flush mount?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The FM-4615 is ELV dimmable and gives smooth continuous dimming on that type of control. A standard incandescent/TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not what this driver calls for, so spec the ELV device when you order the trim for the room.
4) Does the WAC FM-4615 run on 277V for a commercial job?
Yes. The driver is universal input, 120-240-277V, so the same part number works on residential 120V circuits and on 277V commercial lighting branch circuits. That lets a property or facility group standardize one fixture across mixed-voltage buildings.
5) What has to be specified when ordering the WAC Geos FM-4615?
Two choices: color temperature and finish. Color temperature is 2700K or 3000K, and finish is brushed brass, titanium, or white. Those combine into six part numbers, for example FM-4615-27-BR for 2700K brass and FM-4615-30-WT for 3000K white.
6) Is the Geos FM-4615 flush mount ADA compliant for a corridor ceiling?
It is listed ADA compliant and projects only 0.88 inch from the surface, so it sits well inside protrusion limits for a ceiling or wall-mounted application in a corridor or stairwell. It also meets California Title 20 and Title 24.
7) How much light does the 15 inch Geos flush mount put out, and what does it draw?
2330 lumens at 29.5 watts, with a flood distribution through an edge-lit white frosted acrylic diffuser. That is enough for a bedroom, hallway, small office or bath as a single ceiling source, with even output rather than hot spots.
8) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC Geos flush mount when it fails?
No. The LED is integrated, included, and not a lamp you swap. It is rated for 50,000 average hours, which is why this style gets specified in multi-family and hospitality where relamping labor is the real cost. When it does reach end of life the fixture is replaced, not the bulb.
9) Is the WAC Geos FM-4615 Energy Star certified?
No, the FM-4615 is not Energy Star. It is ETL and cETL listed, and it does meet California Title 20 and Title 24. If an Energy Star line item is on your rebate paperwork, this fixture will not satisfy it.
10) How thick is the Geos round flush mount, and what is it made of?
The body is aluminum with a frosted acrylic diffuser, 15 inches across and just 0.88 inch deep. The slim profile is the point: it sits nearly flat to the ceiling, which matters under low headroom or where a dome fixture would look wrong.
11) Can the WAC Geos FM-4615 be mounted on a wall as well as a ceiling?
The mounting method on record is ceiling. WAC describes it as floating less than an inch off the wall or ceiling, and it is hardwired to a 4 inch junction box either way.
