A state-of-the-art LED 12V pendant light made for challenging installations where 120V connections are not available. The Estrella pendant is chain suspended with 10ft of cable and 6ft of chain (additional chain may be added to suspend up to 10ft) that hangs from a ceiling mounted loop and can conveniently adapt to an existing 12V landscape lighting system, making it the perfect solution for outdoor applications including pergolas and cabanas. Model # 3821 includes a slotted cover that creates a night sky starry lighting effect. Two mechanical dials located at the side of the cylinder feature color temperature adjustability from 2700K warm to 3000K warm white to 4000K cool white with smooth and continuous integral brightness control. Remove the cap to reveal a dial that provides continuously adjustable beam angles from flood to spot for each light which can be adjusted independently. One sku fits most applications, eliminating the need to choose from dozens of light bulbs with varying light outputs when compared with traditional landscape lights. 1) Can the WAC Estrella 3811 pendant run off my existing 12V landscape lighting system?
That is what it is built for. The Estrella pendant runs on 12V with an input range of 9-15V AC, so it taps into an existing low voltage landscape run. It ships with 10ft (120 inch) of low voltage burial cable and direct burial gel filled wire nuts for that splice. A magnetic or electronic 12V power supply is required, and WAC's stainless steel outdoor transformers are the recommended match: 9075-TRN-SS (75W), 9150-TRN-SS (150W), 9300-TRN-SS (300W), 9600-TRN-SS (600W). There is no 120V option.
2) How low can the Estrella 12V pendant hang under a pergola, and how high does it mount up?
Suspension range is 7 inches minimum to 72 inches (6ft) maximum as supplied. It hangs from a ceiling mounted loop on 6ft of chain with 10ft of cable, and more chain can be added to extend the drop to 10ft. For a pergola or cabana rafter, that lets you set the fixture anywhere from tight to the structure down to about head height without extra parts.
3) Is the 3811 Estrella pendant safe for an exposed coastal install?
Yes. The body is cast k-alloy aluminum selected for corrosion resistance and recommended for coastal and marine environments. It is factory sealed and water tight at IP66, which covers high-pressure water jets, and it is rated for Wet locations with UL and cUL 1838 listing. No gasket assembly is needed in the field, the housing arrives sealed.
4) Do I have to pick a color temperature when I order the Estrella pendant, or is it adjustable on site?
You do not pick one. Both orderable versions are 2700K-3000K-4000K selectable, set by a mechanical dial on the side of the cylinder, so the installer chooses warm, warm white, or cool white at the fixture. A second dial under the cap sets beam angle continuously from flood to spot, and each fixture adjusts independently. The only ordering decision is finish: black (3811-27/30/40BK) or bronze (3811-27/30/40BZ).
5) Is the 3811 the starry night version, or is that a different model?
The 3811 is the standard Estrella pendant with a frosted glass lens. The slotted cover that throws the night sky starry effect is model 3821, a separate item. If the starry pattern is what the design calls for, order 3821 instead.
6) What dimmer works with the WAC 3811 low voltage pendant?
It dims on MLV, a magnetic low voltage dimmer, smooth and continuous down to 10 percent. There is also integral brightness control at the fixture itself via the side dial. Do not put it on a standard forward-phase incandescent or ELV dimmer and expect rated performance.
7) How many Estrella pendants can I put on one transformer?
Each fixture draws 7.5W, rated 13VA. Size the transformer on the VA figure plus your normal low voltage headroom and wire loss allowance. The recommended WAC stainless steel transformers run 75W, 150W, 300W and 600W (9075-TRN-SS, 9150-TRN-SS, 9300-TRN-SS, 9600-TRN-SS), so even the smallest one carries a multi-fixture pergola run comfortably.
8) Will the Estrella pendant get flagged on a California Title 24 lighting submittal?
No. It is listed as Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star rated, so if a program specifically requires Energy Star certification, this fixture will not satisfy that line item.
9) Can the Estrella 12V pendant be used indoors, or is it outdoor only?
Both. It is rated for indoor or outdoor use at Wet locations, so it works in a covered porch, a screened room, or fully exposed. The constraint is not location, it is power: there must be a 12V magnetic or electronic supply available, since the fixture has no 120V input.
10) Do I need to order a bulb or a lamp for the WAC Estrella pendant?
No lamp to buy. It is a single integrated LED, included and not field replaceable as a bulb, rated 50,000 hours. The fixture is hardwired, not plug-in, so plan a low voltage splice point rather than an outlet.
11) How big is the Estrella pendant body, and will it look oversized in a row of five?
