A state-of-the-art LED 12V pendant light made for challenging installations where 120V connections are not available. The Estrella pendant is chain suspended with 10ft of cable and 6ft of chain (additional chain may be added to suspend up to 10ft) that hangs from a ceiling mounted loop and can conveniently adapt to an existing 12V landscape lighting system, making it the perfect solution for outdoor applications including pergolas and cabanas. Model # 3821 includes a slotted cover that creates a night sky starry lighting effect. Two mechanical dials located at the side of the cylinder feature color temperature adjustability from 2700K warm to 3000K warm white to 4000K cool white with smooth and continuous integral brightness control. 1) Can the Estrella 3821 pendant run off my existing 12V landscape lighting system?
Yes. The Estrella 3821 is a 12V low voltage pendant with an input range of 9-15V AC, so it taps into an existing landscape run and does not need a 120V junction box overhead. It is hardwired and ships with 10 feet (120 inches) of low voltage burial cable plus direct burial gel filled wire nuts for the splice. A 12V magnetic or electronic power supply is required; WAC's stainless steel outdoor transformers in 75W, 150W, 300W and 600W (9075-TRN-SS, 9150-TRN-SS, 9300-TRN-SS, 9600-TRN-SS) are the recommended supplies.
2) How low can the Estrella 12V pendant hang under a pergola, and can I drop it further?
Mounted height ranges from 13.5 inches at the shortest to 72 inches as supplied. It hangs from a ceiling mounted loop on 6 feet of chain with 10 feet of cable, and additional chain can be added to suspend the fixture up to 10 feet down. The fixture body itself is 10.88 inches high and 2.5 inches in diameter, so it reads small under a pergola rafter or cabana ceiling.
3) Is the 3821 Estrella pendant safe to hang in an exposed outdoor location that gets rain and sprinkler spray?
It is factory sealed and water tight, IP66 rated, and carries a Wet location rating with UL and cUL 1838 listing for low voltage landscape use. IP66 covers high pressure water jets, so direct rain and sprinkler overspray are not a problem. For coastal or marine sites the housing is cast k-alloy aluminum chosen for corrosion resistance.
4) Do I have to pick a color temperature when ordering the Estrella 3821 pendant?
No. Both orderable versions are the same 2700K/3000K/4000K field selectable fixture, so the only ordering choice is finish: Black (3821-27/30/40BK) or Bronze (3821-27/30/40BZ). A mechanical dial on the side of the cylinder switches between 2700K warm, 3000K warm white and 4000K cool white, which means one part number can be standardized across a property and tuned per location.

Use a magnetic low voltage (MLV) dimmer on the line side of the transformer. With an MLV dimmer the Estrella dims smoothly and continuously down to 10 percent. It also has integral brightness control built into the side dials on the cylinder, so you can trim output at the fixture without a wall dimmer at all.
7) What is the difference between the slotted cover 3821 Estrella and a plain Estrella pendant?
The 3821 ships with a slotted cover that throws a starry night sky pattern onto surrounding surfaces in addition to the downlight, which is the reason to pick it for a pergola or cabana ceiling where you want decorative effect, not just task light. Under the cap is a dial that adjusts the beam continuously from flood to spot, and each fixture adjusts independently, so a run of them can be set differently along the same cable.
8) Will I ever have to relamp the Estrella pendant?
