WAC Lighting WAC-PD-70925 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Flare PD-70925 pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Flare LED pendant is ceiling mounted and the cylindrical body can be mounted on a slope ceiling. It hangs on cable, and height is adjusted at the canopy through push pin connectors rather than by cutting wire, so you can set the drop on site.
2) How low can the PD-70925 Flare pendant hang, and will it reach a tall ceiling?
The Flare pendant adjusts from a 14 inch minimum height to a 139 inch maximum, with 120 inches of supply wire, so it will cover anything from a low kitchen ceiling to a two story stairwell drop. Fixture body itself is 25 inches high and 2.44 inches across.
3) Will the WAC Flare pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The Flare PD-70925 ships with a universal input driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same part number works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial lighting circuits. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC PD-70925 LED pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV), TRIAC, or 0-10V dimmer for smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/magnetic low voltage dimmer is not one of the listed control types, so if the existing wall box has one, plan on swapping it.
5) Can the Flare PD-70925 pendant go over a covered porch or in a bathroom?
It is rated for damp locations and listed for indoor or covered outdoor use, with an IP44 rating and ETL/cETL certification. That covers a soffit, covered entry, or a bath outside the shower spray zone. It is not for fully exposed wet locations.
6) Does the WAC Flare pendant meet California Title 24?
Yes, the PD-70925 is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what a spec job in California will ask for. It is not Energy Star rated.
7) Do I need to buy bulbs for the PD-70925, and what happens when the LED dies?
No bulbs to buy. The Flare pendant uses a single integrated LED module, included, rated 50,000 average hours at 27W. There is no socket or lamp base, so the light source is not field replaceable and the fixture is maintenance free over its life.
8) How much light does the WAC Flare PD-70925 put out, and is it enough over an island?
2426 lumens at 27W in a 3000K warm white, with a flood beam spread through a co-extruded acrylic diffuser, so the output is broad and even rather than a tight downlight spot. Over a standard island, two of these spaced in a pair is the usual approach for even coverage.
9) What size canopy does the Flare pendant cover, and will it hide my existing ceiling box?
The backplate measures 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches, which covers a standard 4 inch round or octagonal ceiling outlet box. The canopy is also where the push pin connectors sit for setting the cable drop.
10) Is the WAC Flare pendant ADA compliant for a corridor?
No. The PD-70925 is not ADA compliant, and as a 25 inch tall ceiling hung pendant it is not meant for protrusion-limited circulation paths. For ADA sensitive corridors and stairwells, specify a surface or wall fixture that stays within the allowable projection.
11) What finishes does the WAC Flare PD-70925 pendant come in?
Two: Black (PD-70925-BK) and Brushed Nickel (PD-70925-BN). Both are 3000K. Body is aluminum with an acrylic diffuser, so the finish is on extruded metal rather than plated plastic.
12) Can I get the Flare pendant in 2700K or 3500K instead of 3000K?
As stocked it is 3000K only, in both Black and Brushed Nickel. WAC does offer custom CCT options on the Flare by special order, so a non-standard color temperature is a factory order rather than an off-the-shelf variant.
