WAC Lighting HR-837LED-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the WAC Lighting HR-837LED 2.5 inch trim come with a lamp, or do I need to order MR16 bulbs separately?
The LED MR16 lamp is included with the HR-837LED trim, so you are not sourcing bulbs separately. The trim also accommodates most LED MR16 lamps, which means replacement lamping later is an off-the-shelf MR16 purchase rather than a proprietary part.
2) Is the WAC HR-837LED a line voltage or low voltage recessed trim?
It is a low voltage trim running an MR16 LED lamp, so it needs a low voltage housing with a transformer or driver behind it. If your ceiling already has 120V line voltage housings with no transformer, this trim is the wrong part for that opening.
3) Will the HR-837LED trim fit a 2.5 inch aperture housing?
Yes, the HR-837LED is a 2.5 inch trim and is built to the WAC HR-837 low voltage housing family it is cataloged with. Match the trim to a 2.5 inch low voltage housing; it will not close out a 3 inch or 4 inch aperture.
4) What finishes does the WAC HR-837LED adjustable trim come in for matching existing ceilings?
Four finishes: Black (HR-837LED-BK), Brushed Nickel (HR-837LED-BN), Copper Bronze (HR-837LED-CB), and White (HR-837LED-WT). For a fleet of units across a building, White is the usual choice against painted drywall ceilings and Black reads as a recessed shadow in dark or exposed ceilings.
5) Can I aim the WAC HR-837LED trim at artwork or a feature wall?
Yes, it is an adjustable trim, so the lamp can be aimed off vertical rather than fixed straight down. That makes it the one to use for wall washing, artwork, or millwork accenting; for even general ambient coverage a fixed downlight trim is the simpler choice.
6) Can the lens on the WAC HR-837LED be changed to cut glare or soften the beam?
A clear lens ships with the trim, and replaceable lens options are available, so the same 2.5 inch aperture can be re-lensed instead of replaced if the beam is too hot or too tight in a guest room or office. The lens is held by retention clips at the lamp.
7) How durable is the WAC 2.5 inch HR-837LED trim for a hotel or multi-family install?
The trim is built from 20 gauge steel rather than plastic, and retention clips hold the lens firmly to the lamp so it does not shake loose or drop during relamping or housekeeping work. That construction is what matters on repeat-service openings in hospitality and apartment common areas.
