WAC Lighting HR-D425LED-WT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the WAC HR-D425LED 4 inch trim run on line voltage or does it need a transformer?
It's a low voltage trim with a 12 VAC input, so it has to be fed from a 12 volt source, either an integral-transformer low voltage housing or a remote transformer. Wire it to 120V line voltage and you will destroy the lamp. If the ceiling is wired for line voltage, you need a line voltage trim and housing instead.
2) Does the HR-D425LED come with a lamp or do I order the MR16 separately?
An LED MR16 lamp is included with the HR-D425LED, and the trim accommodates most LED MR16 lamps if you later swap it. The center lamp holder is what carries the lamp, so no separate socket or holder is needed.
3) Does the HR-D425LED trim include the recessed housing?
No. The HR-D425LED is the trim only. It mounts into a separate 4 inch low voltage recessed housing and is held in place by steel spring clips, so order the housing with the trim if you are building out a new ceiling.
4) How far can the WAC 4 inch adjustable round trim be aimed for wall washing or artwork?
The center lamp holder lets the lamp tilt up to 80 degrees from vertical, so it will aim nearly horizontally. That's enough to graze a wall, light artwork, or pick up a display from a ceiling run set back from the wall.
5) Can I change the lens on the WAC HR-D425LED to soften or diffuse the beam?
Yes. It ships with a clear glass lens, and that lens can be swapped for one lens accessory, so you can change the beam character (diffusion, color, or spread) without changing the trim. One lens at a time, not stacked.
6) Is the WAC HR-D425LED trim durable enough for a hotel or retail ceiling that gets re-aimed often?
The trim body is die-cast aluminum rather than stamped steel or plastic, which holds its shape when the lamp is repeatedly re-aimed and resists bending during relamping. Spring clip retention means it pulls down for service without tools.
