1) Does the WAC HR-D417 gimbal trim come with the MR16 lamp?
No lamp is included. The HR-D417 gimbal ring trim is sold as the trim only, and the LED MR16 lamp has to be ordered separately. Plan on buying the lamp alongside the trim so the fixture is complete when the electrician is on site.
2) Is the WAC HR-D417 trim line voltage or low voltage?
Low voltage. The HR-D417 gimbal trim runs on a 12 VAC input, so it needs a housing with a magnetic or electronic 12V transformer feeding it. If the ceiling is fed at 120V with no transformer in the housing, this is the wrong trim for that opening.
3) How far can the WAC HR-D417 gimbal trim be aimed off vertical?
The center lamp holder tilts the lamp up to 25 degrees from vertical. That is enough to wash artwork or a wall a few feet off the fixture centerline, but it is not a full accent-aiming trim. If you need to throw light well across a room from a fixed ceiling location, look for a trim with a wider aiming range.
4) What finishes does the WAC HR-D417 recessed gimbal trim come in?
Two: brushed nickel (HR-D417-BN) and white (HR-D417-WT). White is the one that disappears into a painted ceiling across a lot of units, which is usually what a property manager wants when standardizing a building. Brushed nickel reads as a visible metal detail and is the one to pick if the trim is meant to be seen.
5) Can I put a lens or diffuser on the WAC HR-D417 gimbal trim?
Yes. The trim ships with a clear glass lens, and that lens can be swapped for one lens accessory, so you can change the beam character without changing the trim. Only one lens goes in at a time.
