1) Does the WAC HR-D417LED 4 inch gimbal trim come with the MR16 lamp, or do I need to order one separately?
The lamp is included. HR-D417LED ships as an LED MR16 trim with the lamp supplied, so you are not buying a bare trim and sourcing a bulb separately. The trim also accommodates most LED MR16 lamps, so a future relamp is not tied to a single proprietary part.
2) What voltage does the WAC HR-D417LED recessed trim run on, and can I wire it to line voltage?
Input is 12 VAC, so it is a low voltage trim and cannot be connected directly to 120V. It has to run off a low voltage recessed housing with a transformer feeding it. If the housing in the ceiling is a line voltage can, this trim is the wrong part for that opening.
3) I need to match existing 4 inch recessed cans in a building. Will this trim fit them?
The HR-D417LED is a 4 inch aperture trim built for low voltage housings running at 12 VAC. It will match other 4 inch low voltage cans of the same family, but aperture size alone is not enough: the can has to be low voltage. Confirm the housing on the job is 12V before standardizing on this trim across a floor.
4) How far can the light from this 4 inch gimbal ring trim be aimed?
The center lamp holder tilts the lamp up to 25 degrees from vertical. That is enough to wash artwork, a wall, or a millwork face from a can set back a short distance, but it will not aim near-horizontal. If you need a steeper throw, set the housing closer to the wall rather than counting on more tilt.
5) How does the WAC HR-D417LED trim hold into the recessed housing?
Steel spring clips secure the trim to the housing, so it is a friction-retained trim with no screws visible at the ceiling. That also means installation and relamping are tool-free once the housing is in, which matters if a property manager is maintaining a fleet of these.
6) What finishes does the WAC 4 inch die-cast gimbal ring trim come in?
