WAC Lighting - 2" Basics and Gemini 24VDC Joiner Cable

Build an economical and versatile layered LED Tape light system using Basics or Gemini. Basics & Gemini LED tape lights are easy-to-setup with seamless and scalable run lengths, sharing power supplies and components. Basics LED Tape delivers precision and performance with two selectable power outputs and five selectable color temperatures from warm 2700K to cool 5000 Kelvin. Gemini is a continuous phosphorus (COB) tape that eliminates unsightly diode imaging and great for applications where the LED Tape Light is reflected or in direct sight.

  • Basics & Gemini 24VDC In-Wall Rated Joiner Cable 2in Length
  • Joiner cables can be used to connect two strips of Basics & Gemini Tape Light together with power continuity.
  • Flexible and customizable with a low profile. Use with universal input voltage 120-220-277V power supply: PS-24DC-U and T24-BS-EX2 lead wire required or 120VAC power supply: EN-BT60 with lead wire included.
  • Basics LED tape light can be cut in the field every 4in and re-connected with safe and secure connectors. Gemini LED tape light can be cut in the field every 2in and re-connected with safe and secure connectors. Smooth robust illumination deployed from evenly placed UV coated LEDs for cove, accent and task lighting applications.
  • Smooth and continuous dimming with an electronic low voltage dimmer (ELV), TRIAC or 0-10V (0-10V only available with PS-24DC-U power Supply). Dimmers should be installed on the primary side of the transformer. Driver input voltage: 120V-220V-277V AC, Driver output voltage: 24V DC. Driver is available in a 288W max load.
  • High Powered LED's 90+ CRI, Rated Hours: 80,000, Voltage: 24V, Lumen Options: 100+ lm/ft, or 200+ lm/ft.

WAC Lighting T24-BS-IC-002-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What does the WAC Lighting T24-BS-IC-002 joiner cable actually do in a tape light run?
The T24-BS-IC-002 is a 2 inch 24VDC joiner cable that ties two sections of WAC Basics or Gemini LED tape light together while carrying power through, so the run continues past a gap. Use it where you need to jump an obstruction, turn a corner in a cove, or pick up on the far side of a joint without rewiring back to the driver.
2) Will this joiner cable work with any 24V LED tape, or only WAC Basics and Gemini?
It is built for the WAC Basics and Gemini collection of 24VDC tape light and the connectors that system uses. Don't plan on it mating with another manufacturer's tape, even at the same 24V.
3) Can a 24VDC joiner cable be run inside a wall?
Yes. The Basics and Gemini 2 inch joiner cable is in-wall rated, which is the detail that matters when the splice point lands behind drywall or inside a millwork chase rather than in an open cove.
4) What else do I need to order to power a Basics or Gemini tape run besides the joiner cables?
Power comes from either the universal 120/220/277V input PS-24DC-U supply, which also needs the T24-BS-EX2 lead wire, or the 120VAC EN-BT60 supply, which includes its lead wire. The joiner cable only bridges two tape sections; it is not a feed.
5) Is this joiner cable OK in a bathroom or kitchen cove?
It is rated for damp locations, UL and cUL Listed, and IP20. Damp covers an interior bath or kitchen cove; IP20 means no protection against water jets or direct spray, so keep it out of wet locations and off exteriors.
6) How much room do I need to hide the joiner cable in a cove or channel?
The part measures 4 x 0.57 x 0.38 inches with a 2 inch wire length, so budget roughly a 4 inch stretch of channel or cove for the jumper. It's a low profile assembly, which is why it tucks into millwork reveals.
7) Can I cut the tape in the field and reconnect it with these joiners?
Yes, that's the point of them. Basics tape cuts every 4 inches and Gemini every 2 inches, and the cut ends reconnect through the system's connectors, including this 2 inch joiner cable.
8) Will using joiner cables affect dimming on the run?
No. Dimming is handled upstream: electronic low voltage (ELV), TRIAC, or 0-10V with the PS-24DC-U supply, and the dimmer belongs on the primary side of the transformer. The joiner passes 24VDC through, so the dimming behavior is set by the driver and dimmer, not the jumper.
9) Does this WAC tape light accessory meet Title 24 and ADA requirements for a commercial job?
Yes on both. The Basics and Gemini joiner cable is CEC Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant, and it is Energy Star listed, which covers the usual boxes on a California or institutional spec.
10) Should I use a 2 inch joiner cable or a longer extension between tape sections?
Use the 2 inch joiner where the two tape sections sit close together, across a seam, a miter, or a short break in the channel. If the gap between sections is larger than a couple of inches, a 2 inch jumper will not reach and you need a longer run of the same family's extension or lead wire instead.
11) Does the joiner cable have to be mounted in a particular orientation?
No. It can go on a ceiling or a wall in any orientation, so a vertical cove return or an upside-down under-cabinet run is fine.
12) What color options does the WAC 2 inch joiner cable come in, and does it matter?
Two finishes: black (T24-BS-IC-002-BK) and white (T24-BS-IC-002-WT). Pick to match the tape and the substrate so the jumper doesn't read as a dark line on a white cove, or vice versa.
