Build an economical and versatile layered LED Tape light system using Basics or Gemini. Basics & Gemini LED tape lights are easy-to-setup with seamless and scalable run lengths, sharing power supplies and components. Basics LED Tape delivers precision and performance with two selectable power outputs and five selectable color temperatures from warm 2700K to cool 5000 Kelvin. Gemini is a continuous phosphorus (COB) tape that eliminates unsightly diode imaging and great for applications where the LED Tape Light is reflected or in direct sight.

1) What does the WAC T24-BS-IC-072 joiner cable actually do in a tape light run?
The T24-BS-IC-072 is a 72 inch joiner cable that links two sections of WAC Basics or Gemini 24VDC tape light while keeping power continuity through the run. Use it to jump a gap, a corner, or a cabinet break where you do not want to see tape, then continue the run on the far side. Wire length is 72 inches, so it extends the distance between sections by six feet.
2) Can this joiner cable run inside a wall or does it have to stay in the cabinet?
It is an in-wall rated 24VDC joiner cable, so the 72 inch lead can be routed through a wall between tape sections rather than being limited to exposed cove or cabinet runs. It is an indoor part, rated for damp locations and IP20, so it is not for wet exterior use.
3) Will this work with WAC Gemini COB tape or only Basics tape?
Both. Basics and Gemini are built as one 24VDC system that shares power supplies and components, and this joiner cable is specified for either tape. If you are mixing a Basics run with a Gemini run on the same supply, the same joiner connects them.
4) What power supply do I need with a WAC Basics 24V tape run using this joiner?
Two paths. With the universal 120/220/277V input PS-24DC-U supply you also need the T24-BS-EX2 lead wire. With the 120VAC EN-BT60 supply the lead wire is included. Driver output is 24V DC and the driver is offered up to a 288W max load. The joiner cable itself carries no transformer, it only continues the 24V run.
5) Does adding a joiner cable affect dimming on the run?
Dimming is handled on the line side, not at the joiner. Basics and Gemini dim with an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer, TRIAC, or 0-10V, and 0-10V is only available when you use the PS-24DC-U power supply. Dimmers go on the primary side of the transformer, so a joiner downstream of the driver does not change the dimming method.
6) Where can I cut WAC Basics or Gemini tape before reconnecting it with a joiner?
Basics tape cuts in the field every 4 inches; Gemini cuts every 2 inches. Both reconnect with WAC's secure connectors, so plan your cut point to the nearest increment, then bridge the gap with the 72 inch joiner cable.
7) Does this WAC tape light system meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements?
Yes on both. The Basics and Gemini system is CEC Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant, Energy Star, and UL and cUL Listed for damp locations at IP20. That covers the usual questions on commercial and multi-family specs in California jurisdictions.
