LED Hardscape strip lights are the ideal low profile lighting solution to graze walls, decks and patios, handrails, bench seats, fences or stone work in any landscape. Hardscape strips are available in 3in, 6in, 12in, and 18in sizes and can conveniently adapt into an existing 12V landscape lighting system. Includes a translucent diffuser that eliminates hotspots for even light projection. Mounting options include a capstone bracket, as well as aiming clips. Models with 27/30 in the part number include an integral switch to toggle between 2700K and 3000K dual CCT and have a quick release feature for ease of maintenance over time. Factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets and outdoor elements. 1) Can I run the WAC 7032 hardscape strip light off my existing 12V landscape transformer?
Yes. The 7032 is a 12V low voltage fixture that ties into an existing 12V landscape lighting system, and it needs either a magnetic or an electronic power supply. WAC's recommended stainless steel outdoor transformers are the 9075-TRN-SS (75W), 9150-TRN-SS (150W), 9300-TRN-SS (300W) and 9600-TRN-SS (600W). It is hardwired, not plug-in, and ships with 36 inches of low voltage wire plus two Ideal direct burial nuts for the splice.
2) Will the WAC 7032 hardscape light dim on a standard dimmer?
No. Dimming is MLV only, so it has to be a magnetic low voltage dimmer on a magnetic transformer. On that setup it dims smooth and continuous down to 10 percent. A standard incandescent or TRIAC forward-phase dimmer on an electronic supply is not the stated dimming method for this fixture.
3) How big is the WAC 7032 hardscape strip and how much space do I need behind a capstone?
The fixture is 4.5 inches long, 3.13 inches wide and 1 inch high, with a 0.58 inch backplate height. That low profile is what lets it tuck under a capstone or behind a riser without showing the source. A stainless steel capstone bracket, aiming clips and hardware are in the box.
4) Is the WAC 7032 hardscape light safe to install where sprinklers or pressure washing hit it?
It is factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating, which covers high pressure water jets, and it carries a Wet location rating for outdoor use. Certification listed is UL, cUL and IP66, to the UL and cUL 1838 low voltage landscape standard. The body is cast k-alloy aluminum with a frosted glass lens.
5) What mounting hardware comes with the 7032 and what do I still have to buy?
In the box: the complete fixture, stainless capstone bracket, hardware pack, aiming clips, 36 inches of low voltage wire and two Ideal direct burial wire nuts. Mounting into handrails, bench seats, decks, steps or fences is a simple two screw job. What is not included is the 12V power supply, which is required, plus your main run cable and any MLV dimmer.
6) How much light does a single 4.5 inch WAC hardscape strip put out, and how many do I need along a wall?
Each unit is rated 60 lumens at 1.5W, drawing from a 12V supply. That is a grazing accent output, not area lighting, so runs are normally spaced along a wall, step or bench rather than relied on as a single source. Because wattage is low you can put a lot of them on one transformer; a 75W 9075-TRN-SS covers a long run before you need to step up to the 150W or 300W units.
7) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC 7032, or is the whole fixture throwaway when it fails?
The LED is integrated but listed as a replaceable LED module, and the fixture ships complete with bulb included. Rated life is 50,000 hours average. For a property manager standardizing across a courtyard or stairway, that means a failed unit is a module swap rather than pulling the capstone bracket and rewiring.
8) Does the WAC hardscape strip light meet Title 24 and ADA for a commercial walkway job?
