1) Will the WAC HT-808 track head fit my existing H or J track?
No. The LHT-808 is built with an L-style track adapter only. WAC offers the HT-808 head in H, J/J2 and L track configurations, so you have to order the version that matches the track already on the ceiling. Drop an L-track head onto an H or J rail and the adapter will not engage.
2) Does the HT-808 low voltage track head need a separate transformer?
No separate transformer. The 50W HT-808 has the transformer concealed inside the fixture, so it runs directly off standard 120V track. Input is 120 VAC, 50/60Hz.
3) What lamp does the WAC HT-808 take, and is it included?
It takes a single MR16 lamp with a GY5.3 bi-pin base, either LED or halogen, seated in a ceramic socket. No lamp ships with the non-LED version, so order lamps separately. If you want it pre-lamped, WAC sells the head as HT-808LED with an LED MR16 already installed.
4) Can I put an LED MR16 in this head without the dimming dropping out?
Yes. The built-in transformer has a 1W minimum load, which is what lets a low wattage LED MR16 run on it without the transformer dropping below its threshold. With an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer you get smooth continuous dimming down to about 10 percent.
5) Can this track head be used outdoors or in a covered walkway?
Interior only. The HT-808 is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations, so it is not suitable for damp or wet spots such as exterior soffits, covered patios, or bathrooms with steam exposure.
6) How far can I aim the HT-808 head to graze a wall or hit artwork?
The swivel yoke gives 350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, so you can take it from straight down to horizontal wall-wash. The lamp sits recessed behind a baffle to cut glare, which matters for retail displays and gallery walls where the head is in sightline.
7) What finishes does the HT-808 L track head come in so I can match the heads already in the space?
Three finishes: Black (LHT-808-BK), White (LHT-808-WT), and Dark Bronze (LHT-808-DB). Black and white are the usual matches for existing WAC track runs; pick the one matching your rail so the heads disappear into the ceiling line.
8) Does this HT-808 head count toward California Title 24 compliance?
It is CEC listed, but it is not a Title 24 compliant luminaire, and it is not Energy Star rated. For a California project where the fixture itself has to carry Title 24 credit, this is not the head to spec.
9) What else do I need to order to finish a track run using HT-808 heads?
The head alone is not a complete system. You will still need the L-style track sections and their feed and end caps, the MR16 lamps, and an electronic low voltage dimmer if the run is to be dimmed. The head itself is 50W maximum on one lamp.
10) Is the HT-808 track head durable enough for retail and hospitality use, not just residential?
Construction is die-cast aluminum for the head with a polycarbonate transformer case and track adapter, which is what WAC builds for residential, retail, commercial and hospitality installs. Metal body means repeated re-aiming by store staff is less likely to crack a housing.
11) Does the HT-808 track head come with a lens?
A clear glass lens is included, but only on the halogen version. If you order the pre-lamped LED head, the clear lens is not part of it.
