WAC Lighting LHT-007L-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC HT-007 track head fit my existing H or J track?
No. The LHT-007L is built for L track only. WAC makes the HT-007 head in H, J/J2, and L track adapter versions, so you have to order the one that matches the track already on the ceiling. Order according to your track layout. Putting an L adapter head on an H or J rail is not a fit.
2) Does the WAC HT-007 low voltage track head need a separate transformer?
No separate transformer. The magnetic/electronic transformer is concealed inside the fixture in a polycarbonate case, so the head runs straight off standard 120V track. Input is 120 VAC, 50/60Hz.
3) Can I run an LED MR16 in the HT-007 track head, or does it have to be halogen?
Either one. The built-in transformer has a 1W minimum load, which is what lets a low wattage LED MR16 start and run properly, and the socket is a bi-pin ceramic GY5.3 for MR16 lamps. A pre-lamped version, the HT-007LED, ships with an LED MR16 installed; on the non-LED version the lamp is sold separately.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC HT-007 low voltage head?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. On an ELV dimmer the head dims smooth and continuous down to about 10 to 15 percent. A standard incandescent/leading-edge dimmer is not the right control for this fixture.
5) Is the HT-007 track head rated for a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom with a shower?
Dry locations only. The HT-007 is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations and is an indoor fixture, so it should stay out of covered exterior soffits, shower areas, and anywhere it can see moisture. Pick a wet or damp listed head for those spots.
6) Does the WAC HT-007 meet California Title 24 for a retail or commercial job?
Yes. The HT-007 head is listed as Title 24 compliant and CEC listed, which is what a California spec will ask for on a commercial or retail track run. It is also noted as ADA compliant. It does not carry Energy Star.
7) How far can the HT-007 track head aim, and how much room does it need below the track?
The swivel yoke gives 350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, so you can rake it across artwork or straight down. Allow for a maximum height of 6.5 inches; the head itself measures 4.5 inches high by 4.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches long with a 2.25 inch diameter.
8) What else do I need to order with the HT-007 track head to finish the job?
Plan on the lamp: an MR16 LED or halogen with a GY5.3 base is not included on the standard version. A clear glass lens is already in the fixture. If you want tight beam shaping for artwork or signage, the framing projector accessory is ordered separately. And the head itself needs matching 120V track and adapter style.
9) What wattage lamp can the HT-007 low voltage head take?
The HT-007 platform is offered at 50W and 75W; the L track version here is the 75W head, and the transformer will also run down to a 1W minimum, which covers low wattage LED MR16 retrofits.
10) What finishes does the HT-007 L track head come in for matching other heads on the same run?
Three finishes: black (LHT-007L-BK), brushed nickel (LHT-007L-BN), and white (LHT-007L-WT). For a property with existing WAC track, match the head finish to the track itself so the run reads consistent.
11) Is the HT-007 track head durable enough for a retail or hospitality space that gets re-aimed often?
The head body is die-cast aluminum with a polycarbonate transformer case and track adapter, and it is aimed by a swivel yoke rather than a friction joint, which is what holds up to repeated re-aiming as displays change. It is intended for residential, retail, commercial and hospitality interiors.
