Low Voltage track fixture offered in a wide variety of styles and finishes for a multitude of lighting applications in residential, retail, commercial and hospitality environments. Available in H, J/J2, and L style track configurations. Built-in transformer has a 1W minimum load and can be installed with an LED lamp.

1) Will the WAC HT-180 track head fit my existing track, or do I need a specific type?
The LHT-180L is built with an L-series track adapter, so it only mounts on L track. The HT-180 head is made in H, J/J2 and L configurations, and the adapter is not interchangeable in the field, so identify the track already on the ceiling before ordering. All versions run on 120V track.
2) Can I run an LED MR16 in the HT-180 low voltage head instead of halogen?
Yes. The built-in transformer has a 1W minimum load, which is what lets a low wattage LED MR16 fire reliably instead of dropping out. The socket is GY5.3 and takes an MR16 lamp, LED or halogen. Lamps are not included on the non-LED version, and there is a factory version that ships with a pre-installed LED MR16 (HT-802LED).
3) What dimmer do I need for a WAC HT-180 low voltage track head?
An electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The transformer is magnetic-free electronic, and with an ELV dimmer the head runs smooth and continuous down to about 10 to 15 percent. A standard incandescent or MLV dimmer is the wrong control for it and will give you flicker or drop-out at the bottom of the range.
4) Can the HT-180 track head be used in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom over a shower?
No. The HT-180 is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations only and is an indoor fixture. Covered exterior soffits, canopies and wet or damp zones in a bath need a damp or wet rated head instead. Interior retail, hospitality and office spaces are what it is listed for.
5) How far can the HT-180 head be aimed once it is on the track?
350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, on a swivel arm. That covers wall washing off a run parallel to the wall as well as straight-down accent aiming. Re-lamping is done from the front without tools, which matters on retail and gallery installs where heads get re-aimed and re-lamped often.
6) How much space does the HT-180 track head take up below the ceiling?
Plan on about 5.8 inches overall height, with a max height of 5.75 inches, 4.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches long. The head body diameter is 2.25 inches. Those numbers matter when heads sit near a soffit or under a low ceiling where a tilted head could sit in someone's sight line.
7) Does the WAC HT-180 meet California Title 24 for a commercial lighting job?
Yes, the HT-180 is listed as Title 24 compliant and CEC listed, and it is also noted as ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star rated. For a California spec package, those are the three lines a plan checker typically wants on the fixture schedule.
8) I have 50W heads on my track already. Will the 75W HT-180 match them?
The HT-180 family covers both 50W and 75W, same housing and same aiming range, so a 75W head sitting next to existing 50W heads on the same run will look identical from the floor. What changes is the lamp output, so if you want the beam to match, lamp them alike rather than mixing wattages in a single sightline.
9) What finishes does the HT-180 low voltage head come in, and is it metal or plastic?
Two finishes, black and white, ordered as LHT-180L-BK and LHT-180L-WT. The housing is metal, aluminum base construction with steel, so it takes the handling that comes with repeated re-aiming in a retail or gallery space better than a molded head would.
10) Does a clear lens come with the HT-180 track head?
A clear glass lens is included, but on the halogen version only. If you are running an LED MR16 in it, the lens is not part of the LED configuration. The glass lens is what contains a halogen capsule failure, which is why it ships with that version.
