1) Will WAC Lighting HT8 track work with my existing H-style track heads?
The HT8 is an 8-foot section of WAC's H Track, single circuit, 120V. Any head or fixture built for the H track profile mounts into it. It's a single-circuit run, so everything on the section switches together; if you need separate switching legs on one run, you need a two-circuit track and matching two-circuit heads instead.
2) How much lighting load can I put on an 8ft WAC H Track section?
The H Track section carries up to 1920W at 120V. That's the ceiling for everything hanging on the run, so add up your heads before you spec the circuit. With LED heads you will hit the fixture-count limit of the physical track long before you get near the wattage cap; with line-voltage halogen heads the wattage is the real constraint.
3) Can WAC H Track be plugged in, or does it have to be hardwired?
Hardwired. The HT8 track is wired to a 120V branch circuit, so it needs an electrician and a junction box connection, not a cord and plug. It ships as track only, not as a complete system, so the feed connector, canopy, end caps, and heads are separate line items on the order.
4) Can I use WAC H Track in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom?
No. The H Track is rated for dry interior locations only, so covered porches, canopies, unconditioned garages, and shower or tub zones are out. Keep it to conditioned interior spaces: retail, gallery, office, residential living areas.
5) How far does WAC H Track drop below the ceiling?
Just 0.66 inches. The extrusion measures 96 inches long by 1.38 inches wide with a 0.66 inch height, so surface mounted to a flat ceiling it sits about two thirds of an inch proud. That matters in a low-ceiling retail bay or a corridor where you are watching head clearance under the fixtures.
6) Is WAC HT8 track UL listed for commercial installation?
The H Track carries UL and cUL listings, which covers it for both US and Canadian jobs. It is also CEC listed. It is not Energy Star and not Title 24 compliant, so on a California project the compliance path has to come from the heads and lamps you put on it, not the track.
7) What finishes does WAC H Track come in, and can I match it to my existing run?
Four finishes: black (HT8-BK), brushed nickel (HT8-BN), dark bronze (HT8-DB), and white (HT8-WT). For a property standardizing across suites, order the extension sections in the same finish code as what is already up, and check that connectors and end caps are ordered in the matching finish too, since those are separate parts.
8) Can WAC H Track be recessed or mounted upside down in a cove?
No. The H Track is not reversible mounting, so it installs one way up, track channel facing out. For a recessed or cove application you need a track system specified for that, not this surface extrusion.
9) Is WAC track lighting aluminum or steel?
Aluminum extrusion. That keeps the 8-foot section light enough for one person to handle onto a ceiling and it will not rust, but it also means you support it at proper intervals rather than spanning it unsupported between two distant points.
10) Does WAC H Track meet ADA requirements for a corridor?
The H Track is not ADA compliant as listed. On a job where protruding-object rules apply in a circulation path, that has to be resolved by mounting height and by the heads you select, since the track itself is not carrying an ADA claim.
