1) Will the WAC HT-802LED track head fit my existing H or J track?
No. The HT-802LED is built with an L-track adapter, so it only mounts on L-style track. The HT-802 fixture family is made in H, J/J2, and L configurations, and the adapter is not interchangeable once ordered, so match the head to the track already on the ceiling before you order.
2) Is this a line voltage or low voltage track head, and what track voltage does it need?
It is a low voltage MR16 head with the transformer concealed inside the fixture, so it runs on standard 120V track. You do not need a separate remote transformer or a low voltage track run.
3) What dimmer do I need for a WAC HT-802LED, and how low will it go?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. On an ELV dimmer the 8W head dims smoothly from 100 percent down to about 10 to 15 percent. Standard incandescent/forward-phase or MLV dimmers are not the right control for this head.
4) Does the HT-802LED come with a lamp or do I have to buy the MR16 separately?
The LED version ships with the 8W MR16 LED lamp already installed, on a bi-pin GY5.3 ceramic socket. The non-LED version of the HT-802 takes a lamp sold separately. If you ever relamp, the socket accepts an MR16 LED or halogen lamp.
5) Can I use these WAC track heads outdoors or in a covered exterior walkway?
No. The HT-802LED is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations only and is an indoor fixture. Damp or wet exterior areas, including covered walkways that see blown rain, need a damp or wet location rated head instead.
6) How much light does an 8W LED track head actually put out, and is the color good enough for retail display?
Each head delivers 450 lumens at 3000K with a CRI of 90 and a 35 degree beam, with center beam candlepower of 929. The 90 CRI and warm 3000K color is what makes it usable over merchandise, artwork, or hospitality millwork where color rendering matters.
7) How far can I aim this head once it is on the track?
The swivel yoke gives 350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, so you can go from straight down to horizontal wall wash and rotate almost a full circle on the track adapter. Good for gallery walls and shelving where aiming gets adjusted after the fixtures are up.
8) Does the HT-802LED meet California Title 24 for a commercial lighting job?
Yes. It is listed as Title 24 compliant and CEC listed, which is what a California spec or permit set typically asks for on a track head. It is not Energy Star qualified.
