1) Will the WAC HT-808LED track head fit my existing H or J track?
No. The LHT-808LED is built with an L track adapter, so it only mounts on L style track. WAC makes the HT-808 head in H, J/J2, and L configurations, so order to match the track already on the ceiling. An L head pushed onto H or J track will not seat or make contact.
2) Is this a low voltage head that still runs on standard 120V track?
Yes. The HT-808LED is a low voltage head with the transformer concealed inside the fixture, so it drops straight onto standard 120V L track with no remote transformer or separate feed. Input is 120 VAC, 50/60Hz.
3) Does the HT-808LED come with a lamp, or do I have to buy an MR16 separately?
The LED version ships with an 8W MR16 LED lamp already installed. The non-LED HT-808 head takes the lamp separately. The socket is a bi-pin ceramic GY5.3, so a replacement MR16 LED or halogen lamp will drop in later.
4) What kind of dimmer do I need for these WAC LED track heads?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. On an ELV dimmer the head dims smoothly to about 10 percent. The built-in transformer has a 1W minimum load, which is what makes LED dimming behave instead of dropping out. Standard incandescent-only wall dimmers are the wrong control here.
5) Can I use the HT-808LED in a covered exterior entry or a bathroom with a shower?
No. It is listed UL and cUL for dry locations only and is an interior fixture. Keep it out of damp or wet spots, covered exterior soffits, and shower zones, and use a damp or wet location rated head there instead.
6) Does buying this WAC head get me a working track system, or do I need more parts?
The head alone is not a system. You are buying the fixture with its lamp; the L track sections, feed or canopy connector, end caps, and the ELV dimmer are separate. Order the track layout first, then the heads to match it.
7) Is this track head bright enough for retail accenting, and what beam does it throw?
Delivered output is 450 lumens from 8W at 3000K, with a 35 degree narrow flood beam. That spread works for accenting merchandise, artwork, and millwork at typical 8 to 10 foot ceilings rather than washing a whole wall. For a tighter pool on a single object you want a spot lamp instead.
8) How far can the HT-808 head be aimed after it is on the track?
The swivel yoke gives 350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, so one head can be re-aimed from straight down to near horizontal without moving the adapter. The lamp sits recessed behind a baffle to cut glare when it is tilted toward eye level.
9) What finishes does the HT-808LED head come in for matching the rest of my track run?
Three finishes: black (LHT-808LED-BK), dark bronze (LHT-808LED-DB), and white (LHT-808LED-WT). Pick the one that matches the L track and existing heads, since the adapter and transformer case are finished to match the head.
10) How much room does this track head need below the ceiling?
Figure 6.25 inches of height and 2.75 inches of diameter for the HT-808 head and adapter, plus the track itself. Length is listed at 3.39 inches. In tight spots like under a soffit or a low shelf, check the tilt clearance since the head swings a full 90 degrees vertically.
11) Does the HT-808LED meet California Title 24 or qualify as Energy Star?
It is CEC listed, but it is not Title 24 compliant and not Energy Star qualified. On a California job where the lighting line has to be high efficacy under Title 24, this head will not satisfy that requirement on its own.
12) What is the housing made of, and will it hold up in a commercial space?
The head is die-cast aluminum with a polycarbonate transformer case and track adapter, and the socket is bi-pin ceramic. That is metal construction rather than a plastic shell, which is why it holds aim in retail and hospitality installs where heads get re-pointed around displays.
13) Is a clear lens included with the LED version of the HT-808?
