WAC Lighting LHT-007LED-BK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is this a low voltage head that needs a separate transformer?
No separate transformer is needed. The HT-007 head runs off standard 120V track and has the transformer concealed inside the fixture body, stepping down to drive the MR16 lamp. You wire and feed the track at 120V as normal.
2) Does the LHT-007LED come with a lamp or do I have to buy the MR16 separately?
The LED version ships with an 8W MR16 LED lamp already installed, using a GY5.3 bi-pin ceramic socket. A clear lens is included too. The non-LED HT-007 head is sold without a lamp.
3) What dimmer works with this WAC low voltage track head?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The HT-007 head dims smoothly down to about 10 percent on an ELV control. Standard incandescent or magnetic low voltage dimmers are not the right control type for it, and the built-in transformer has a 1W minimum load, which is what allows an LED lamp to be run on it at all.
4) Can the WAC HT-007 track head be used in a covered outdoor breezeway or bathroom?
No. It is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations and interior use only, so keep it out of bathrooms with shower exposure, covered exteriors, and any damp-rated application. Specify a damp or wet listed fixture for those openings.
5) What finishes does the WAC LHT-007LED track head come in for matching existing track?
Three finishes: black (LHT-007LED-BK), brushed nickel (LHT-007LED-BN), and white (LHT-007LED-WT). For a fleet of units or a retail buildout, match the head finish to the track extrusion, white on white ceilings and black where you want the hardware to disappear against a dark deck.
6) Can I aim this track head at artwork on a side wall?
Yes. The HT-007 uses a swivel yoke giving 350 degrees of horizontal rotation and 90 degrees of vertical tilt, so a head mounted mid-run can be turned back onto a side wall or angled down onto a case. A framing projector accessory is available separately if you need the beam shaped to the edges of a piece.
7) How much does this track head hang down from the ceiling?
The LHT-007LED measures 6.5 inches high by 2.25 inches wide, 2.25 inches in diameter, with a 4.25 inch length. Figure roughly 6.5 inches of drop below the track itself when the head is aimed straight down, which matters in low ceiling corridors and over counters where headroom is tight.
8) Does the LHT-007LED meet California Title 24 requirements?
No. The head is CEC listed but is not Title 24 compliant and is not Energy Star rated. If you are building to Title 24 in California, this head will not carry the credit on its own and the lighting package needs to be evaluated accordingly.
9) What is the HT-007 track head body made of, and will it hold up in a commercial space?
The head body is die-cast aluminum with a polycarbonate transformer case and track adapter, plus a clear glass lens. The metal housing handles the heat off an MR16 socket and takes repeated re-aiming in retail and hospitality spaces better than a plastic-bodied head.
