1) Does the WAC BA-AC08 8-inch LED light bar need a separate driver or transformer?
No. The BA-AC08 runs on 120 VAC line voltage directly using WAC's ACLED driverless technology, so there is no remote driver or transformer to find space for. That is what makes it workable under a cabinet or in a shallow cove where there is no room for a power supply.
2) How do I set the color temperature on this WAC light bar, and can I match it to fixtures already installed?
There is a selectable switch on the fixture for 2700K, 3000K or 3500K, so you pick the temperature at install rather than ordering a fixed-CCT part. That is useful when you are adding to an existing run and need to match warm 2700K residential lamping or step up to 3500K for a commercial kitchen or retail case. CRI is 90 across the board.
3) Will the WAC BA-AC08 work with my existing dimmer?
It dims on ELV and TRIAC controls, down to 10 percent of full output. A standard forward-phase TRIAC wall dimmer of the kind already in most residential and light commercial boxes will run it. What it will not take is a 0-10V or DALI control system, so on a spec job wired for 0-10V you need a different fixture.
4) Can I use this WAC light bar in a bathroom or a covered outdoor soffit?
It carries a damp location rating and is listed for indoor or covered outdoor use, so a vanity, a shower surround outside the spray zone, or a covered porch soffit is fine. It is not wet rated, so keep it out of direct rain or anywhere it takes standing water or a hose.
5) Is the WAC BA-AC08 hardwired or does it plug in?
It is classed as portable rather than hardwired, and the model includes an integral rocker switch for local on/off. Practically that means you can power it from a cord and receptacle inside a cabinet and switch it at the fixture, without pulling a switch leg back to a wall box.
