WAC Landscape Lighting extension rods are used to extend the distance between a fixture and mounting surface (spike, surface mount canopy, etc). Casted using a special k-alloy aluminum that is engineered to withstand the most challenging environments over time. Solid brass coated in bronze (-BBR finish) may be available for enhanced protection against corrosive elements and is recommended for use in coastal or marine environments. Available in 4in, 8in, 12in, 18in and 24in sizes - extension rods are 1/2in threaded male-to-female and cannot be shortened in the field.

1) What thread does the WAC 5000-X24 landscape extension rod use, and will it screw onto my existing spike and accent light?
The 5000-X24 is a 24 inch extension rod with 1/2 inch threaded male-to-female ends, so it drops in between a WAC Landscape accent or wall wash fixture and its mounting base (spike, surface mount canopy, or tree mount box). It is intended for use with WAC Landscape Lighting products; the 1/2 inch thread is what makes that stack work.
2) Can I cut a 24 inch WAC extension rod down to the height I need on site?
No. WAC Landscape extension rods cannot be shortened in the field. They are made in fixed 4, 8, 12, 18 and 24 inch lengths, so order the length you need, or combine rods to reach the height.
3) Which finish of the WAC 5000-X24 extension rod should I use on an oceanfront property?
For coastal or marine installs, go with the Bronze on Brass version, 5000-X24-BBR. That one is solid brass coated in bronze for added protection against corrosive elements. The Black on Aluminum (5000-X24-BK) and Bronze on Aluminum (5000-X24-BZ) rods are cast k-alloy aluminum, fine for normal exterior work but not the salt-air recommendation.
4) Is the WAC landscape extension rod rated for direct exposure to rain and sprinklers?
Yes. The extension rod carries UL and cUL listing and is IP65 rated for wet locations, so it is suited to open-ground and irrigated planting bed installs.

Use the optional L-connector, 5000-LCO-BK, which gives you a 90 degree turn in the rod run. That lets you take a vertical 24 inch rod and redirect the fixture horizontally off a wall or tree mount.
6) Why would I add a 24 inch extension rod to a landscape accent light instead of just mounting the fixture on the stake?
Height is the reason. A 24 inch rod lifts the accent or wall wash fixture above low plantings, mulch, and snow line so the beam clears the foliage instead of being buried in it. It extends the distance between the fixture and the mounting surface. If you need less lift, the same rod family comes in 4, 8, 12 and 18 inch lengths.
7) What finishes does the WAC 5000-X24 rod come in so it matches the fixtures already on site?
Three: Black on Aluminum (5000-X24-BK), Bronze on Aluminum (5000-X24-BZ), and Bronze on Brass (5000-X24-BBR).
