WAC Lighting PD-91536-27-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Hourglass PD-915 pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The PD-915 Hourglass linear pendant has a universal driver rated 120-240-277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial branch circuits. It is a hardwired fixture, not plug-in, so it needs a ceiling outlet box and a licensed connection.
2) Do I have to pick the color temperature when I order the PD-915, or can it be changed later?
Either way. The Hourglass pendant's LED module is a selectable 4-CCT type covering 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K, and it can be pre-selected or switched in the field. The ordering options list a color temperature because the fixture ships pre-set, but the same unit can be moved to another of those four values after install if the space needs a warmer or cooler look.
3) Will the Hourglass pendant work over a bathroom vanity or a covered patio?
It is damp location rated and ETL/cETL listed for damp locations, which covers a bathroom, a laundry, or a roofed porch where it will not take direct water. It is not wet rated, so do not hang it anywhere exposed to rain or direct spray.
4) What dimmers work with the WAC PD-915 pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. Standard incandescent/magnetic low-voltage dimmers are not the listed control type for this driver, and pairing one is the usual cause of flicker or a limited dimming range on LED pendants like this.
5) Does the WAC Hourglass pendant meet California Title 24?
Yes, the PD-915 is CEC Title 24 compliant, which is what lets it count as a high-efficacy luminaire on California energy-code projects. It is not Energy Star certified, so if your spec or rebate program specifically calls for Energy Star rather than Title 24, this fixture will not satisfy it.
6) Do I need to order extra down rods to hang the PD-915 at island height?
The pendant ships with six 12 inch down rods and two 6 inch rods, so you can build a range of hanging heights straight out of the box. If your ceiling is high enough that you need more drop than those give, additional down rods are a separate order item.
7) Is 2300 lumens enough light from one PD-915 over a kitchen island or reception desk?
At 2300 lumens and 28W with a flood distribution, one Hourglass linear pendant covers a typical island or a reception desk as the main decorative layer. The 90 CRI matters more than the raw lumens for food prep and finish-sensitive lobby areas, since colors read accurately. For long islands or wide lobbies, plan on more than one fixture rather than expecting a single unit to carry the whole space.
8) When the LEDs eventually fail on this pendant, does the whole fixture get replaced?
No. The Hourglass pendant uses a replaceable high-powered LED module rather than LEDs bonded into the housing, so the light source can be serviced without pulling the fixture out of the ceiling. Rated life on the module is 54,000 hours.
9) Is this pendant ADA compliant for a corridor or restroom in a public building?
No. The PD-915 is not ADA compliant, and as a ceiling-hung linear pendant it is not intended for the protruding-object restrictions of a circulation path. For corridors and other ADA-governed walls and walkways, specify a fixture carrying an ADA listing instead.
10) What finishes does the Hourglass PD-915 pendant come in for matching other fixtures in a building?
Three finishes: Aged Brass, Black, and Brushed Nickel, each available across all four color temperature settings. The body is solid aluminum with etched acrylic diffusers, so the diffuser look stays the same regardless of which metal finish you standardize on across a property.
11) Does the PD-915 pendant need bulbs ordered with it?
No separate lamps to buy. The light source is an integral LED module that ships with the fixture, driven by a universal driver, so the pendant arrives ready to wire and hang.
