WAC Lighting PD-83542-27-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the WAC Satalite PD-835 pendant be installed over a covered patio or in a bathroom?
The Satalite linear pendant is ETL and cETL listed for damp locations, so a covered porch, a sheltered entry, or a bath area that sees humidity but no direct water is fine. It is not rated for wet locations, so skip anywhere exposed to rain or direct spray.
2) Do I have to pick the color temperature when I order the WAC PD-835 Satalite pendant?
You order it at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K, but the CCT is field selectable on the fixture itself, so the ordered setting is a starting point rather than a lock-in. That matters if you are buying several for one space and want them matched later on site.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Satalite LED pendant?
It accepts 0-10V, ELV, or TRIAC dimming, so most commercial 0-10V controls and standard residential ELV/TRIAC wall dimmers will drive it. Match the dimmer type to the control system already in the space; an incandescent-only leading-edge dimmer that is not TRIAC rated for LED loads is the one to avoid.
4) Will this pendant run on 277V commercial power?
Yes. The Satalite uses a universal input voltage driver covering 120V, 240V, and 277V, so the same fixture goes into a 277V office or lobby circuit or a 120V residential one without a separate part number.
5) Are down rods included with the PD-835, or do I order them separately?
Six 12 inch down rods and two 6 inch down rods ship with the fixture, which covers most standard ceiling heights. For taller ceilings, additional down rods are a separate purchase.
6) How much light does the Satalite pendant put out, and is one enough for a dining room?
41 watts total producing 4,678 lumens with a flood beam spread, so it throws broad ambient light rather than a tight downlight pattern. For a typical dining table or a small lobby seating group a single fixture is the intended application; large open commercial floors will want it repeated on a layout.
7) Does the LED in the WAC Satalite pendant have to be replaced as a whole fixture when it fails?
No. The LED module is replaceable, rated at 54,000 hours, so the fixture is serviceable rather than disposable. That is the detail property and facility maintenance teams should note before specifying an integrated-LED pendant.
8) Is the Satalite pendant good enough color quality for retail or hospitality display areas?
CRI 90 with selectable 2700K through 4000K, which is the range most hospitality and retail specs call for. At 2700K it reads warm for lounges and dining; at 3500K or 4000K it suits lobbies and workspaces where you want the whites to look clean.
9) Does the WAC PD-835 pendant meet California Title 24?
CEC Title 24 compliant, per WAC. Combined with the ETL and cETL listing, it clears the usual California residential and commercial lighting plan-check hurdles. It is not Energy Star rated and it is not ADA compliant, which matters only if a project spec calls those out specifically.
10) What is the Satalite pendant made of, and does it need a junction box?
Aluminum body with etched opal glass diffusers in three sizes. It is a hardwired ceiling-mount fixture, so it needs a supported ceiling junction box and a line voltage feed; there is no plug or cord option.
