1) Does the WAC 2022 inground indicator light run on line voltage or does it need a transformer?
The 2022 inground indicator light is a 12V fixture, so it has to run off a low voltage landscape transformer, not a 120V branch circuit. It is hardwired and comes with 36 inches of lead wire plus two Ideal direct burial wire nuts for splicing into the landscape run. At 4W draw per fixture, you can put a lot of them on a single transformer before you load it up.
2) Can this WAC indicator light be buried in grade and take standing water?
Yes. The 2022 is rated for wet locations and carries UL, cUL and an IP66 rating, which is why it is built with a stainless steel body and a clear glass lens. It is an outdoor fixture, installed in grade with the included spring retention clip and hardware pack.
3) How big a hole do I need to core for the 2in WAC inground indicator light?
The fixture body measures 1.88 inches in diameter and stands 3.13 inches tall, with an overall footprint of 2.75 by 2.75 inches at the top. Size the sleeve or core to the 1.88 inch body and allow for the wider beveled top sitting at grade.
4) Is this WAC path light bright enough to light a walkway, or is it just a marker?
It is a marker, not a path floodlight. The 2022 puts out 200 lumens from a 4W integrated LED, and the honeycomb louver is there to cut glare so you see the surface, not the source. Use it to define step edges, driveway borders and walkway lines. If you need to actually wash a path surface, step up to a larger path or bollard fixture.
5) What color temperatures and finishes does the WAC 2022 indicator light come in?
Four combinations: 2700K or 3000K, each in bare stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. Order 2022-27SS or 2022-30SS for stainless, 2022-27BS or 2022-30BS for bronze. If you are adding to an existing run, match the color temperature on the fixtures already in the ground, because 2700K and 3000K read noticeably different side by side.
6) Can the LED be replaced in this inground light when it burns out?
No. The LED module is factory sealed, with one integrated LED rated at an average 70,000 hours. There is no lamp to change, which is what lets the housing stay sealed to IP66 in grade. When it reaches end of life the fixture gets replaced.
7) What kind of dimmer works with the WAC 12V inground indicator light?
It dims on MLV (magnetic low voltage). Because it is a 12V fixture, the dimming is done on the line side of a magnetic landscape transformer with an MLV-rated dimmer. An ELV or standard incandescent dimmer is the wrong control for it.
8) Does this WAC inground light meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a commercial walkway?
Both are covered. The 2022 is listed ADA compliant and Title 24 compliant, which matters on hospitality, multi-family and institutional exterior paths in California. It is not Energy Star rated.
9) What comes in the box with the WAC 2022, and do I need to buy anything else?
Each one ships as a complete fixture: sealed LED, 36 inches of wire, hardware pack, spring retention clip, two Ideal direct burial wire nuts, and an interchangeable faceplate. What is not included is the 12V transformer, the low voltage cable run, and any sleeve or core drilling for setting it in concrete or paver.
10) Can I change the louver or trim on the WAC inground indicator light after it is installed?
Yes, the faceplate is interchangeable. The honeycomb louver version controls glare from an in-grade aiming angle; swapping faceplates lets you change the output pattern without pulling the fixture body out of the ground.
11) Can the WAC 2022 be mounted in a wall or riser instead of in the ground?
No. It is not a reversible mounting fixture, so plan it as an in-grade installation only rather than trying to flip it into a vertical surface or a step riser face.
