1) Can the WAC 2011 inground indicator light be buried in soil or set in a walkway where it gets rained on and washed down?
The 2011 indicator light is built for outdoor wet locations and carries UL, cUL and an IP66 rating, so direct rain, irrigation spray and hose washdown are within what it is rated for. IP66 covers dust ingress and powerful water jets, not sustained submersion, so it should not sit in a spot that ponds or floods. Body is stainless steel with a clear glass lens, and the two direct burial nuts are supplied for the underground splice.
2) Does the WAC 2011 indicator light run on line voltage or does it need a landscape transformer?
It runs at 12V, so it has to be fed from a low voltage landscape transformer. Wiring it to 120V line voltage will destroy it. The fixture is hardwired with a 36 inch lead, which is what you have to reach your run with, so plan the splice point within three feet of the fixture location.
3) What size hole do I need to core for the WAC 2011 inground light?
The fixture measures 1.88 inches diameter with a 3.13 inch height, and the overall footprint is 2.07 by 2.07 inches. Bore for the 1.88 inch body depth of 3.13 inches, and the 2.07 inch faceplate sits over the opening. A spring retention clip is supplied to hold the fixture in the sleeve or hole.
4) What do I have to specify when ordering the WAC 2011 indicator light?
Two choices. Color temperature, 2700K or 3000K, and finish, either bare stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. Both temperatures come in both finishes: 2011-27SS and 2011-27BS at 2700K, 2011-30SS and 2011-30BS at 3000K. Everything else is fixed, and the LED is factory sealed, so the color temperature you order is the color temperature for the life of the fixture.
5) What comes in the box with the WAC 2011 inground light, and what else do I need to buy?
You get the complete fixture with the factory sealed LED, a 36 inch wire lead, a hardware pack, a spring retention clip, two Ideal direct burial nuts and an interchangeable faceplate. What is not in the box is the 12V transformer, the low voltage cable run, and any concrete sleeve or in-grade housing the walkway detail calls for. Those get ordered separately.
6) How much light does a 4W 12V inground marker light actually put out, and is it enough to light a path?
200 lumens at 4 watts. That is marker-level output, meant to define an edge, a step or a driveway line rather than to illuminate the walking surface. If the job calls for actual pathway illumination, spec a path light with a shielded head over the walkway and use these as the indicator run between them.
7) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC 2011 inground light when it burns out?
No. It is an integrated, factory sealed LED, one source, bulb included, rated 70,000 hours average. Nothing unscrews and there is no lamp to stock. On a facility run that means the maintenance plan is fixture replacement, not relamping, which is the trade for a sealed IP66 in-grade assembly.
8) Will the WAC 2011 12V inground light dim on my landscape lighting dimmer?
It dims on MLV, magnetic low voltage. Pair it with a magnetic (core and coil) transformer and an MLV-rated dimmer. Putting it on a TRIAC or ELV dimmer intended for electronic low voltage supplies, or on a plain incandescent dimmer at the 120V side of the wrong transformer type, gives flicker or no dimming at all.
9) Does the WAC 2011 inground indicator light meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a commercial site?
Both are listed as compliant: ADA Compliant yes, Title 24 Compliant yes. It is not Energy Star qualified, so if a rebate or spec sheet is written around Energy Star specifically, this one will not satisfy that line item.
10) Can I aim the WAC 2011 inground light or flip it to change the direction it throws?
No, it is not a reversible mounting fixture. It installs top-facing in the grade and throws straight up. If the design needs a directional or adjustable beam, that is a different fixture type, an in-grade well light with an aimable optic rather than a flush indicator. This one is for marking an edge, not for grazing a wall.
11) Which color temperature should I order for a landscape run, 2700K or 3000K?
2700K reads warmer and yellower, closer to the incandescent look most residential and hospitality landscape schemes are built around. 3000K is a touch whiter and blends better with newer commercial exterior LED that is usually specified at 3000K or above. The practical rule on a property is to match whatever is already burning on the site, because the mismatch shows badly along a straight run of markers. Order 2011-27SS or 2011-27BS for 2700K, 2011-30SS or 2011-30BS for 3000K.
12) Will a stainless steel inground light hold up in a coastal or de-icing salt environment?
The body is stainless steel, which is the material that survives in-grade service where the fixture sits in wet soil, sprinkler water and road salt runoff. The bronze option is a coating over that same stainless base, so the corrosion resistance is the same underneath and the choice is appearance. Sealing is IP66 with a clear glass lens.
