1) How big a hole do I need to set the WAC 2111 inground indicator light into?
The fixture body measures 1.88 inches in diameter and 4.35 inches tall, with an overall footprint of 2.69 by 2.69 inches at the top. Bore for the 1.88 inch diameter and give yourself the full 4.35 inches of depth below grade, plus room underneath for the splice to your buried cable.
2) Can an inground indicator light be walked on and buried in a walkway or driveway edge?
An indicator light is a marker, not a well light. The WAC 2111 puts 200 lumens through a clear glass lens flush with grade to mark a step edge, stair riser, path edge or wall base. It is rated for wet locations and carries an IP66 rating, so it handles direct rain and sprinkler spray. The base is stainless steel, which is what you want sitting in wet soil year round. If you need to light a tree canopy or a facade, you want an inground well light with real beam output, not a 4.1 watt indicator.
3) What do I have to specify when ordering the WAC 2111 indicator light?
Two choices. Color temperature is either 2700K or 3000K, and finish is either bare stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. That gives four part numbers: 2111-27SS and 2111-27BS in 2700K, 2111-30SS and 2111-30BS in 3000K. Nothing else is optional, the LED is factory sealed and included.
4) Does the WAC 2111 indicator light meet ADA and California Title 24 for a commercial project?
Yes on both. The 2111 is listed ADA compliant and Title 24 compliant, and it carries UL and cUL safety listings along with IP66. For a spec-driven job on stair markers or path edges in California, that combination is what the drawing usually calls for.
5) Which color temperature should I pick to match the rest of my landscape lighting?
2700K if the existing heads are warm, incandescent-looking halogen replacements, which is the common landscape standard on residential and hospitality properties. 3000K reads slightly cleaner and whiter and tends to match newer commercial exterior LED. Both come in either finish, so you can standardize a whole property on one temperature and still switch between stainless and bronze where the surface demands it.
6) What comes in the box with the WAC 2111 inground indicator light?
Complete fixture with the factory sealed LED already in it, a 36 inch wire lead, hardware pack, spring retention clip, two Ideal direct burial nuts and an interchangeable faceplate. You supply the low voltage transformer and the buried cable run. No bulb to buy, the LED is integrated.
7) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC 2111 when it burns out?
No. The LED is factory sealed and integrated, which is how the fixture holds its IP66 seal sitting in the ground. Rated life is 70,000 hours, so on a dusk to dawn landscape schedule you are replacing the whole fixture rather than servicing it. For a property manager buying a fleet of these, treat them as sealed units and keep a spare or two on the shelf.
8) Can the WAC 2111 be mounted in a wall or riser instead of in the ground?
The 2111 is not reversible mounting, so it installs one way only in its inground orientation with the shroud top facing up. It is a hardwired 12V fixture, not a plug-in, so wherever it goes it needs a buried low voltage feed brought to it.
9) Is the bronze version of the WAC 2111 a painted finish or solid bronze?
It is stainless steel coated in bronze, not solid bronze. The underlying base material is stainless steel on both options, so corrosion resistance in wet soil is the same either way. Choose bare stainless where you want the fixture to read as hardware, bronze where you want it to disappear into mulch, pavers or dark stone.
