1) Can the WAC 1031 inground indicator light be buried in soil or set in a paver walkway where it will get wet?
Yes. The 1031 inground indicator light is an outdoor fixture rated for Wet locations and carries a UL, cUL and IP66 safety rating, so direct rain, sprinkler spray and washdown are within its rating. The housing is stainless steel, and the lens is clear glass.
2) Does this WAC indicator light run on line voltage or do I need a landscape transformer?
It is a 12V fixture, so it has to run off a low voltage landscape transformer, not a 120V circuit. It is hardwired, not plug-in, and draws 2W maximum, which makes it easy to add to an existing 12V run without much load impact.
3) How bright is the WAC 1031 inground light, and is it enough to light a path?
At 100 lumens from a 2W integrated LED, this is a marker, not a path floodlight. It is a Path Indicator Light meant to mark an edge, step or driveway line and be seen, with the shroud top cutting glare. For actually washing light across a walking surface, use a larger path or bollard fixture and use these between them as indicators.
4) Will the WAC 1031 dim on my existing landscape dimmer?
It dims on MLV (magnetic low voltage) control only. If your system is on an ELV or TRIAC dimmer, the dimming will not behave correctly, so match the control to MLV or run the fixture undimmed.
5) Can I relamp the WAC 1031 when the LED fails?
No. The light source is an integrated LED, one source per fixture, supplied with the fixture and not a replaceable lamp. Rated average life is 70,000 hours, so plan on fixture replacement rather than relamping over the life of the install.
6) What color temperatures and finishes does the WAC 1031 indicator light come in?
Four combinations: 2700K or 3000K, each in natural stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. The order numbers are 1031-27SS, 1031-27BS, 1031-30SS and 1031-30BS. On a site with existing WAC landscape fixtures, pick the color temperature that matches the rest of the run so the markers do not read warmer or cooler than the path lights beside them.
7) Does this WAC inground light meet California Title 24 for an outdoor lighting permit?
Yes, the 1031 is listed as Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star rated, so if the job specification calls for Energy Star specifically, this fixture will not satisfy it.
8) Can I flip the WAC 1031 indicator light to aim it a different direction after it is set?
No. The fixture is not reversible mounting, so the shroud orientation is fixed by how you set it in the ground. Decide the viewing direction before you grout or backfill the sleeve.
