1) Can the WAC 1021 inground indicator light be buried in soil or set in a walkway where water pools?
Yes. The 1021 inground indicator is rated for wet locations and carries an IP66 rating, with a stainless steel body, so direct exposure to rain, irrigation and washdown is within its rating. It is a small marker light, 0.93 inch diameter and 3.13 inches tall overall, so the buried portion is shallow.
2) Does the WAC 1021 indicator light run on a 12V landscape transformer or on line voltage?
It runs on 12V and must be fed from a low voltage landscape transformer. It is hardwired, not plug-in, and comes with a 36 inch lead for splicing into the landscape run. Do not connect it to 120V.
3) Is the 1021 available in 3000K to match the rest of my landscape fixtures?
Both 2700K and 3000K are offered, in stainless steel finish: order 1021-27SS for the warmer 2700K or 1021-30SS for 3000K. Pick the one matching the color temperature of the path and uplights already on the property, since a mismatch is very visible on a marker line.
4) Will a 1 inch inground indicator light give me enough light to walk a path safely?
No. At 100 lumens from a 0.93 inch aperture, this is a directional marker, meant to define a stair nose, a deck edge, a wall base or a path line. For actual illumination of the walking surface, pair it with full path lights on the same 12V run and use the indicators between them.
5) How much load does each 1021 marker light add to my landscape transformer?
Each fixture draws 2W maximum, so a run of 20 of them is only about 40W. That lets you put a long string of markers on a small transformer alongside larger path or flood fixtures. Output is 100 lumens per unit, which is marker-level light for edges and steps rather than area illumination.
6) What dimmer works with the WAC 12V inground indicator light?
Dimming is MLV, so the control has to be a magnetic low voltage dimmer on the transformer's line side. An ELV or standard incandescent dimmer is the wrong control type for this fixture.
7) Can the LED be replaced when it burns out, or do I swap the whole fixture?
The LED is integrated and supplied with the fixture, one source rated at 70,000 average hours. There is no lamp to change, so at end of life the fixture itself is replaced.
8) Does the 1021 inground light meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements?
Yes to both. The fixture is listed as Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant, and it is UL and cUL listed. It is not Energy Star rated.
9) Is the lens on the WAC inground indicator glass or plastic?
Glass. It uses a clear glass lens in a stainless steel housing, which holds up better than acrylic against UV and against string trimmer and snow shovel contact at grade.
