1) Can the WAC 2131 inground indicator light be installed in a walkway where it gets wet or driven over by irrigation runoff?
The 2131 inground indicator light is an outdoor fixture rated for wet locations, and it carries UL, cUL and IP66 ratings. IP66 means it's sealed against dust and high pressure water jets, so sprinkler spray, rain and standing runoff along a path or driveway edge are within what it's built for. The housing is stainless steel with a clear glass lens.
2) What voltage does the WAC 2131 scoop top indicator light run on, and can I put it on line voltage?
It's a 12V fixture, so it has to run off a low voltage landscape transformer. Do not connect it to 120V. It's hardwired, with a 36 inch lead and two Ideal direct burial wire nuts in the box for the splice to your landscape cable.
3) What comes in the box with the 2131 inground indicator light, and do I need to buy anything else?
Each fixture ships complete: the housing with a factory sealed LED already in it, a 36 inch wire lead, a hardware pack, a spring retention clip, two Ideal direct burial wire nuts and an interchangeable faceplate. No lamp to buy, since the LED is integrated and included. What you supply is the 12V transformer and the landscape cable run to the fixture.
4) What size hole do I need for the WAC 2131 inground light?
The fixture body is 1.88 inches in diameter and 4.13 inches high, with an overall footprint of 2.69 by 2.69 inches at the top. Core or dig for the 1.88 inch body plus depth for the 4.13 inch height and the wire lead, and allow for the wider top flange sitting at grade.
5) Which color temperature and finish should I order for the WAC 2131 to match the rest of my landscape lighting?
Four combinations are built: 2700K or 3000K, each in natural stainless steel or stainless steel coated in bronze. The part numbers are 2131-27SS and 2131-27BS for 2700K, 2131-30SS and 2131-30BS for 3000K. 2700K reads warmer and blends with older halogen landscape runs; 3000K is the cooler, whiter of the two and matches most newer LED landscape systems. Keep one color temperature across a property so the run looks consistent.
6) How much light does a WAC 12V round scoop top indicator put out, and is it enough to mark a path edge?
200 lumens at 4.1W. That's step and path marking output, not area lighting. The scoop top throws the light sideways and low to mark a walkway edge, stair nosing or driveway line rather than flood a surface. If you need to actually light the walking surface, plan on a taller path light or more fixtures on tighter spacing.
7) Will the WAC 2131 indicator light dim on my landscape transformer?
It's dimmable on MLV (magnetic low voltage) control. Dim on the 120V primary side of a magnetic landscape transformer with an MLV rated dimmer. An ELV or standard incandescent dimmer is the wrong control type for this fixture.
8) Does this WAC inground light meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements for a commercial walkway?
Both are met. The 2131 is listed as Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant, which matters on California jobs and on commercial or multi-family paths where a fixture cannot protrude into the walking path. It is not Energy Star rated.
9) Can the LED be replaced in the WAC 2131 inground light when it fails?
No. The LED module is factory sealed inside the fixture, and the bulb base is integrated LED, so there is no lamp to swap. It's rated for an average 70,000 hours. When it reaches end of life the fixture gets replaced, which is worth knowing before you set a dozen of them in a concrete walkway.
10) How many of these 12V indicator lights can I run off one landscape transformer?
Each fixture draws 4.1W maximum at 12V. Divide your transformer's rated wattage by 4.1 to get the fixture count, then leave headroom for voltage drop over the cable run. At that draw, even a small transformer carries a long run of them, so the cable length and gauge usually decide the layout before the transformer does.
11) Can I flip the WAC 2131 scoop top to aim the light the other direction after it's set?
The fixture is not reversible mounted, so the orientation you set it at is the orientation you get. Aim the scoop before you backfill or grout it in. It does ship with an interchangeable faceplate, so the top plate itself can be swapped.
