1) Will the WAC Lighting LED160 Precision track head fit my Halo or Juno track?
No. The LED160 Precision head is built with an L Track connector, which is WAC Lighting's own L Series track profile. It will not seat in a Halo (H), Juno (J) or Lightolier track. If your existing runs are H or J profile, order the matching H or J version of the Precision head instead of this one.
2) Can I use this WAC track head outdoors or in a covered exterior walkway?
Interior only. The Precision LED160 head carries a Dry location rating, so it cannot go outside, in a covered walkway, or anywhere it sees moisture, including a bathroom over a tub or shower. For a canopy, breezeway or exterior soffit you need a fixture rated wet or damp.
3) What is the difference between the 20 degree and 40 degree beam on the WAC LED160 head?
Two beam options: a 20 degree spot and a 40 degree flood, both putting out 975 lumens at 14.5 watts. Use the 20 degree for accent work, artwork, merchandise on a shelf, or high ceilings where you want the light to stay in a tight pool. Use the 40 degree to wash a wall or cover more area per head, which usually means fewer heads on the run. The part number tells you which: L-LED160S is the 20 degree spot, L-LED160F is the 40 degree flood.
4) Does buying the WAC LED160 head get me a working track run, or do I need more parts?
The head alone is not a system. It ships as a fixture only, so you still need L Series track sections, a power feed or end feed, connectors, and end caps to complete the run. Budget those separately when you are pricing out a job.
5) Which color temperature should I order for the WAC LED160 track head?
Four choices: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K. 2700K is the warm, incandescent-looking light most hospitality and residential lobbies run. 3000K is the usual commercial retail and gallery standard. 3500K reads neutral and is common in offices. 4000K is the coolest of the four and gets used where you want a crisp, task-lit look. If you are adding heads to an existing run, match the Kelvin already installed or the mismatch will be obvious on the wall.
6) Does the WAC Precision LED160 meet California Title 24 or ADA requirements?
The Precision LED160 head is not Title 24 compliant and is not ADA compliant. On a California job under Title 24 you will need a fixture that carries that listing, and where the fixture projects into a required clearance you need an ADA compliant unit instead.
7) Do I have to order lamps separately for the WAC Precision LED160 track head?
Nothing to add. The LED module is integrated and included, one per head, so there is no lamp to buy and none to change out later. Rated life is 70,000 hours, which is why these get specified in stairwells and high ceilings where relamping means a lift.
8) Will the WAC Precision LED160 dim on the dimmers already in my building?
The head is dimmable and runs on 120V line voltage at 14.5 watts. Because the load per head is small, watch your total connected load against the dimmer's minimum: a short run of two or three heads may sit below what a standard dimmer wants to see and will flicker or drop out at the bottom of the range. Use an LED-rated dimmer and confirm the head count on the circuit.
9) How much space does the WAC Precision LED160 head need below the track?
The head measures 5.56 inches in height, 5.31 inches in width and 2.25 inches in length, with a 2.25 inch diameter body. Add the track height to that 5.56 inches when you are checking clearance under a low soffit or working out how far the head will hang into a display case opening.
10) Is the WAC Precision LED160 track head Energy Star listed?
Energy Star qualified, and safety listed UL and cUL for use in the US and Canada. That covers utility rebate paperwork and Canadian inspection on the same part number.
11) What finishes does the WAC LED160 Precision track head come in?
Black and White, and every beam, CRI and color temperature combination is offered in both. The housing is aluminum. On a white ceiling with white track, the white head disappears; black is the pick when you want the fixture to read as a deliberate element or when it is mounted against a dark ceiling in a restaurant or gallery.
12) Can the WAC LED160 head be aimed once it is on the track?
Yes, and it also mounts reversible, so the head can be oriented either way on the track to aim in the direction the job needs. That flexibility is the reason track gets used over fixed downlights in galleries and retail, where the merchandise moves and the aiming has to move with it.
