WAC Lighting HTK-765-BK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC HTK-765 track head fit my existing H-type track?
Yes. The HTK-765 is built as an H track fixture, so it drops into H-system (three-circuit H-style) track runs. It is a line voltage head rated 120V, which matches standard H track power. It will not mount on J or L track systems without the correct adapter for those systems.
2) What bulb does the WAC HTK-765 track head take, and is one included?
It takes a single PAR38 lamp, either incandescent or LED, and the lamp is not included. Budget for one lamp per head when you order. Maximum load is 50 watts per fixture, so pick a PAR38 LED in that range rather than a legacy 90W or 120W incandescent PAR38.
3) Can the WAC HTK-765 track head be used in a covered outdoor area or a bathroom with a shower?
No. The head is rated for dry locations and interior use only, so it is wrong for covered exterior soffits, open porches, or anywhere exposed to shower steam or splash. For those spots you need a fixture carrying a damp or wet location rating.
4) Is the WAC HTK-765 UL listed, and does it meet Title 24?
The head is UL and cUL listed and CEC listed. It is not Title 24 compliant and does not carry Energy Star, so for California jobs where Title 24 applies to the lighting it is not the fixture to spec. It is also not ADA compliant, which matters for wall-mounted track in protruding-object zones.
5) Is the WAC HTK-765 dimmable, and what controls the dimming?
The HTK-765 is dimmable, but on a line voltage track head the dimming is handled by the wall dimmer on the circuit and the lamp you install. Pair it with a PAR38 lamp marked dimmable and a dimmer compatible with that lamp type, since the fixture itself has no driver.
6) How much clearance do I need below the ceiling for a WAC HTK-765 track head?
Allow for a fixture 10 inches at maximum height, 6 inches in diameter and width, and 6.68 inches in length. On low ceilings or over walkways and merchandising aisles, that 10 inch projection off the track is the number to check before committing.
7) Does the HTK-765 track head aim up as well as down?
It has reversible mounting, so it can be set to throw light up for cove and ceiling wash as well as down for standard accent aiming. That makes it usable for uplighting art soffits or sloped surfaces from the same track run that carries your downward accent heads.
8) What finishes does the WAC HTK-765 come in for matching existing track?
Three finishes: black (HTK-765-BK), brushed nickel (HTK-765-BN), and white (HTK-765-WT). Black and white are the ones that disappear against painted or dark ceilings and match most standard H track extrusions; brushed nickel is the accent option. Ordering by the finish suffix keeps a multi-building fleet consistent.
9) What is the HTK-765 track head body made of?
Aluminum. That keeps the head light on the track connector and helps pull heat off a PAR38 lamp running at up to 50 watts, which matters for heads left on long retail or gallery schedules.
