1) Will the WAC HHT-802 track head fit my existing track, or do I need a specific track type?
The HHT-802 is an H-track fixture, so it mounts to WAC H-series single-circuit track. It will not snap into J-track or L-track systems. If your run is H-track, the head drops straight in with no adapter.
2) What bulb do I need to order with the WAC HHT-802 low voltage track head?
No lamp ships with the head, so budget a bulb for every fixture. It takes an MR16 with a GY5.3 bi-pin base, rated up to 50W maximum. A clear glass lens covers the lamp.
3) It's a low voltage head, so do I need a separate transformer on the track?
No separate transformer is needed. The HHT-802 runs off a 120V H-track circuit and steps the power down in the head itself, which is why it is called an integral-transformer low voltage head. Feed the track at line voltage and the MR16 lamp sees low voltage at the socket.
4) Is the WAC HHT-802 track head rated for a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom?
Indoor dry locations only. The HHT-802 carries a dry location rating, so keep it out of showers, covered porches, and anywhere exposed to damp or wet conditions. For those spots you need a damp- or wet-rated fixture.
5) Does this WAC track head meet California Title 24 and CEC requirements?
Yes on both. The HHT-802 is Title 24 compliant and CEC listed, and it is also ADA compliant. It is UL and cUL certified for the US and Canada. It does not carry an Energy Star rating.
6) Can I dim the WAC HHT-802 track head?
Yes, but the dimmer has to match. The head is ELV dimmable, meaning it needs an electronic low voltage dimmer, not a standard incandescent or TRIAC wall dimmer. Pairing it with the wrong control type is the usual cause of flicker or buzz.
7) How much clearance does the HHT-802 head need below the track?
Allow 6 inches of drop at full tilt. The head measures 5.5 inches high with a 6 inch maximum height, 4.5 inches wide, 2 inches long, and a 2.39 inch diameter. In a gallery or retail run with low ceilings, that 6 inch figure is the number to design to.
