Modern Forms FR-W2304-62L-SB/MB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Lucid FR-W2304 be installed on a covered patio or in an open-air breezeway?
The Lucid FR-W2304 carries a Wet location rating, so it can go indoors or outdoors, including spots that see direct rain and spray. It's UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listed. For a property manager spec'ing porches, breezeways and pool decks, a wet-rated fan is the one that holds up; damp-rated fans are only good for covered, protected locations.
2) Will the Lucid 62 inch fan work on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Out of the box the Lucid mounts on slopes up to 30 degrees. For a steeper pitch, 32 to 45 degrees, you need the XF-SCK Slope Ceiling Kit. The 6 inch downrod ships with the fan; on a vaulted ceiling you'll usually want a longer downrod, which is ordered separately, to keep the blades clear of the slope.
3) Does the Modern Forms Lucid fan come with a wall control, or just a remote?
A battery-operated Bluetooth handheld remote with a wall cradle is included (Part No. F-RCBT-WT). A hardwired wall control is not included. If the job calls for a switch at the box, order the F-WCBT-WT Bluetooth wall control separately; it can be configured for 3-way or 4-way switching.
4) How do I wire the Lucid FR-W2304 and what circuit does it need?
It's a 120V fan drawing 50.5W total, so it lands on a standard 120 volt branch circuit with no transformer or special supply. Control is Bluetooth through the included remote or the Modern Forms app, so the fan does not need a dedicated traveler or a smart dimmer upstream. Do not put it on a wall dimmer; the integrated LED dims through the fan's own control. Wiring detail is in the Modern Forms installation guide at https://zensupply.com/content/pdf/modern-forms/installation-guide-3e3f5b.pdf.
5) What color temperatures and finishes does the Lucid FR-W2304 come in?
The Lucid is built in Soft Brass with Matte Black blades or Soft Brass with Matte White blades, and each is offered in 2700K, 3000K or 3500K. Six combinations in total. If you're matching existing fixtures in a building, pick the color temperature that matches your downlights: 2700K reads warm like incandescent, 3500K is noticeably cooler and more neutral.
6) Does the Lucid smart fan work with Alexa or Google Home, or only the manufacturer's app?
Both. The free Modern Forms app handles speed, breeze mode, adaptive learning and grouping multiple fans, and the fan also integrates with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Control4 and Josh AI. The Control4 and Josh AI support is the piece that matters for integrators doing whole-house control rather than consumer voice.
7) Why pick a DC motor fan over a standard AC ceiling fan?
The Lucid's reversible DC motor runs up to 70 percent more efficient than a traditional AC fan motor and is factory balanced for quiet operation, and it gives you 6 speeds instead of the usual three. It's also Energy Star certified, which helps on institutional and multi-family projects with efficiency requirements. Reversing it in winter pushes warm air back down.
8) Are the blades on the outdoor Lucid fan going to warp or sag in weather?
The five blades are molded ABS, not wood or MDF, which is why the fan carries a wet rating instead of a damp one. ABS doesn't absorb moisture, so the blades won't swell or droop out of balance on a humid porch the way timber veneer blades do.
9) Is the Modern Forms Lucid fan ADA compliant?
No, the Lucid FR-W2304 is not ADA compliant. On projects where ADA compliance is a hard requirement for the controls or protruding objects in a space, confirm it against your specification before you commit to this fan.
