Modern Forms FR-W2008-60L-MB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can the Modern Forms Mykonos FR-W2008 fan be installed on a covered patio or porch?
Yes. The Mykonos 60 inch fan is Wet Location rated and carries UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL listings, so it can go on a covered patio, porch or other exposed location as well as indoors. It runs on 120V. The blades are ABS rather than wood, which is what makes outdoor use practical.
2) Will the Mykonos ceiling fan mount on a sloped ceiling?
Up to a 30 degree slope, the Mykonos mounts with the hardware in the box, including the 6 inch downrod. Past that, from 32 to 45 degrees, you need the XF-SCK Slope Ceiling Kit, which is a separate order. Longer downrods for high ceilings are also sold separately.
3) What finish and color temperature choices does the Modern Forms Mykonos 60 inch fan come in?
Three finish combinations: Matte Black, Bronze Dark Walnut, and Oil Rubbed Bronze Barn Wood. Each is offered in 2700K, 3000K and 3500K LED color temperature, so there are nine orderable combinations. Color temperature is fixed at the time of order, not switchable at the fan, so pick one temperature and stay with it across a job if you want the rooms to match.
4) Is a wall control included with the Mykonos fan, or do I need to order one?
A battery powered Bluetooth remote with a wall cradle ships with the fan. A hardwired wall control is not included and is an optional add. For a rental or commercial space where a loose remote walks off, plan on the hardwired control as a separate line item.
5) Can the LED light on the Mykonos fan be replaced, or is the whole fan scrapped when it fails?
The luminaire is a replaceable LED module built by WAC Lighting, not a sealed throwaway assembly. It is rated for an average 50,000 hours, puts out 1,100 lumens at 53W with 90 CRI and a flood beam, and dims smoothly. There is no screw-in lamp base, so a standard bulb will not fit it.
6) Does the Mykonos fan work with Alexa or Google Home, or does it need a hub?
Control is Bluetooth through the free Modern Forms app, and the fan pairs with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, Control4 and Josh AI. Within Bluetooth range an unlimited number of fans can be run from one remote, which is how you handle a row of patio fans or a multi-unit install. The app also handles breeze mode, adaptive scheduling and fan groups.
7) Do I need a dimmer switch on the circuit for the Mykonos fan light?
No wall dimmer is needed. The LED luminaire dims through the Bluetooth remote and the Modern Forms app with continuous brightness control, and the fan wires to a standard 120V supply. Putting it on a wall dimmer is not how this fan is designed to be controlled.
8) Is the Mykonos ceiling fan Energy Star qualified for a rebate or green spec?
Yes, the Mykonos is Energy Star qualified. The DC motor draws considerably less than a conventional AC fan motor, and the fixture totals 53W with the LED on. It is not ADA compliant, so keep that in mind on projects where that is a hard requirement.
