WAC Lighting PD412648-BK/AB – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Parasail linear pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The Parasail PD412648-BK/AB uses a universal input driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial circuits with no separate driver to order. The driver sits concealed in the canopy, and the fixture is hardwired, so plan for a junction box at the ceiling rather than a cord and plug.
2) Can this WAC Parasail pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling, and how is the drop height set?
Sloped ceilings are fine. The Parasail hangs from an electrified cable suspension, and height is adjusted through push-pin connectors on the canopy, so you set the drop on site rather than specifying a stem length when ordering. Mounting is ceiling only.
3) Is this pendant OK over a bathroom tub or in a covered exterior entry?
It is listed for damp locations only, ETL and cETL. That covers a bathroom, a covered porch ceiling or a kitchen over a range where moisture is in the air, but it is not a wet-location fixture, so do not put it anywhere exposed to direct rain or spray.
4) Do I need to pick a color temperature when I order the Parasail pendant?
No, you select it at install. The fixture is 4-CCT selectable: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K from the one unit. That lets a property manager or spec buyer stock a single part number and still match 2700K in guest rooms and 3500K or 4000K in a reception area or office.
5) What dimmer works with the WAC Parasail LED pendant?
Use an ELV or a TRIAC (forward phase) dimmer; those are the two control types the integral driver is compatible with, and it dims continuously. A 0-10V or DALI control is not a match for this driver, so if your room is on a 0-10V system you need a different fixture family.
6) Does the WAC Parasail pendant meet California Title 24 and Title 20?
Yes, it is CEC listed and Title 24 compliant, and Title 20 compliant, which is what a California project or a JV3 submittal will be checking. It is not Energy Star certified, and it is not ADA compliant, so do not use it where a project requires an ADA-conforming fixture.
7) Is 2312 lumens enough light for a kitchen island?
2312 lumens at 28.9W is single-fixture output in the range typically used as the primary light over an island or a dining table, with a flood distribution and a frosted acrylic diffuser softening it so you do not get hot spots on a stone countertop. CRI 90 keeps food and finishes reading true. For a long island or a conference table, people usually run two or more units in a row rather than stretching one.
8) Can the LED in this pendant be changed, or is the whole fixture disposable at end of life?
The Parasail uses a replaceable high-powered LED module rather than a sealed board, driven by the universal driver in the canopy. The module is included, so there is no lamp to buy. Rated life is 50,000 hours.
9) What is the Parasail pendant actually made of, and how will the BK/AB finish look?
Body is aluminum with a frosted acrylic diffuser, in the BK/AB combination of black with aged brass accents. Styling is contemporary, a slim winged profile, which is why it gets used in hospitality reception and modern residential interiors where the fixture is seen as much as the light it throws.
10) Is there an installation guide for the WAC Parasail PD412648 pendant?
Yes, WAC publishes an installation guide for the Parasail pendant and it is available as a PDF at https://zensupply.com/content/pdf/wac-lighting/installation-guide-049f50.pdf. Worth pulling before rough-in since the fixture is hardwired to a ceiling box and the CCT selection and height adjustment are both done during install.
