WAC Lighting HR-D412-SC/BN – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the WAC Lighting HR-D412 recessed trim include the lamp?
No lamp comes with it. The HR-D412 is a trim only, built to take an LED MR16 lamp that you order separately. It runs on 12 VAC, so it needs a low voltage housing with a transformer behind it. The clear glass lens is supplied with the trim.
2) Can the HR-D412 trim be aimed at a wall or artwork?
Yes. The center lamp holder tilts the lamp up to 35 degrees off vertical, so it works as an adjustable accent for wall washing or art. The open reflector cone itself is a round die-cast aluminum trim for a 4 inch low voltage recessed housing.
3) What size recessed housing does the WAC HR-D412 open reflector trim fit?
It is a 4 inch round trim for low voltage recessed housings, held in place by steel spring clips that grip the housing. Because the input is 12 VAC, pair it with a low voltage 4 inch housing, not a line voltage one.
4) What finishes does the HR-D412 come in, and which one blends into a white ceiling?
Two combinations: specular clear reflector with a white flange (HR-D412-SC/WT) and specular clear with a brushed nickel flange (HR-D412-SC/BN). The white flange version disappears into a standard white drywall ceiling; brushed nickel is the choice when the trim is meant to read as a metal detail. The reflector is specular clear in both, which keeps the cone bright and low in glare appearance.
5) Can I swap the clear lens in the HR-D412 for a diffuser or color lens?
Yes. The supplied clear glass lens can be replaced with one lens accessory, so you can change the beam character or color without changing the trim. Only one lens is used at a time.
6) Is the HR-D412 durable enough for a hospitality or multi-family retrofit where trims get handled?
The trim body is die-cast aluminum rather than stamped steel or plastic, so the cone and flange hold their shape when they get pulled for relamping. Retention is by steel spring clips, which means a trim can be removed and reseated without tools during turns.
