1) Is this a urinal flush valve or a water closet flush valve?
Urinal. The Ultima 6063101 flushes at 1.0 gpf (3.8 Lpf), which is a urinal volume, and it mounts to a 3/4 inch top spud. A water closet needs a 1.6 or 1.28 gpf valve on a 1-1/2 inch spud, so don't substitute this one onto a toilet.
2) Does this touchless urinal valve need to be wired to power?
No hardwiring. A CR-P2 lithium battery comes installed in the valve, rated for 8 years of service, so you can retrofit a restroom stall without running conduit or adding a transformer.
3) What happens if the battery dies or the water shuts off mid-day?
Two things cover it. The valve is fail-safe: it closes automatically on loss of power or loss of water pressure, so you don't get a stuck-open valve flooding the floor. And there's a fully mechanical manual override that works with no power at all, so maintenance can still flush the fixture until the battery is swapped.
4) We keep getting flush valves that run on constantly. Does this one address that?
That's the failure this design targets. The Ultima uses DynaClean self-cleaning wiper spring technology: an integral wiper spring scrubs the refill orifice on every flush, which is the orifice that clogs with grit and scale and causes run-on. It's a piston-type valve, not a diaphragm.
5) Will flush volume drop off if our building water pressure is low or fluctuates?
The valve has pressure compensation built in, so it delivers the same 1.0 gpf (3.8 Lpf) regardless of inlet pressure. That matters in a multi-story building where upper-floor fixtures see noticeably less pressure than the ones near the main.
6) What finish does the 6063101 come in, and what's the exact part number to order?
One configuration only: polished chrome, manufacturer part number 6063101.002. If you're standardizing a restroom group, every valve in the run will match without having to filter finishes.
7) Is the valve body brass, and will it hold up on aggressive water?
The body uses a proprietary American Standard brass alloy that resists dezincification, which is the zinc leaching that pits and weakens ordinary yellow brass on high-chloride or low-pH supply water. That's the reason to spec it over a standard-brass valve in a facility with known water quality problems.
