TOTO THU4012 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is TOTO THU4012 and what does it do on a faucet?
THU4012 is a TOTO faucet aerator, the screened insert that threads into the spout outlet to shape and smooth the water stream. It's a replacement part for the Mercer line, so it's what you order when the existing aerator is clogged, scaled over, or spraying off to one side rather than replacing the whole faucet.
2) Is there more than one version of the TOTO THU4012 aerator to choose from?
No. The THU4012 aerator is sold as a single configuration, so there is nothing to specify when ordering, no finish or size choice to make. Order by the part number THU4012 and you have the right item.
3) Should a property manager stock the TOTO THU4012 aerator for maintenance calls?
It's a reasonable shelf item if your buildings run TOTO Mercer faucets. Low or spitting flow at a lavatory is more often a fouled aerator than a valve problem, and swapping the aerator is a hand-tool job at the spout. Keep in mind this part is specific to the Mercer faucet it belongs to, so it is not a universal aerator that fits any brand of spout.
