1) Will the ACSI K-108 switch kit fit a Jackson 1085 or 1095 exit device?
That's exactly what the K-108 is cut for. ACSI builds the Series K kits device-specific, and the K-108 is the one matched to Jackson 1085 and 1095 Series exit devices. It installs in the field, inside the device, so you don't replace the exit device to add request-to-exit signalling. If your push bar is a different make, you need a different K number, not this one.
2) I have Jackson 20 Series exit devices, not 1085 or 1095. Does the K-108 work on those?
No. The K-108 is built for Jackson 1085 and 1095 Series only. For Jackson 20 Series, ACSI makes the K-130 Request To Exit Switch Kit. Same idea, different device fit. Ordering the wrong K number gets you a switch assembly that will not mount in your bar.
3) What type of switch comes in the ACSI K-108 request to exit kit?
A SPDT (single pole double throw) switch assembly, with long wire leads and installation instructions in the kit. SPDT gives you both a normally open and a normally closed contact off the same actuation, so you can either make or break a circuit when the bar is pushed, depending on how the panel or mag lock wants to see it. If your application needs two isolated circuits switched at once, ACSI's DPDT kits are the K-200 series numbers, but those are cut for other devices, not Jackson.
4) Can I use the K-108 to release a magnetic lock when someone pushes the exit bar?
Yes, that is one of the listed uses. The switch mounts in the Jackson 1085 or 1095 device and trips when the push bar is depressed, giving instant release of a magnetic lock for free egress. The same switch closure can also shunt a door alarm so authorized egress does not trigger it, activate a door alarm, or signal a control console. Which of those you get depends on how you wire the SPDT contacts, not on a different part number.
5) Do I have to buy a new exit device to add request to exit, or can I retrofit the one on the door?
Retrofit. Series K kits are field installed into the exit device you already have, so an existing Jackson 1085 or 1095 stays on the door and the switch assembly goes inside it. That is the whole reason these exist, and it is why the K number has to match the device make and series. Installation instructions come in the kit.
6) I'm standardizing request to exit switches across a building with mixed exit device brands. Does ACSI cover Von Duprin and Sargent too?
Yes, and that is the practical way to spec a mixed building: same ACSI Series K switch, different kit number per device. Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99 take the K-100 (or K-200 for DPDT), Von Duprin 55 takes the K-101, Von Duprin 88 the K-102. Sargent 80 Series is the K-103 (K-203 DPDT), Sargent 9600/9700/9800/9900 the K-104, Sargent 9300/9400/9500 the K-105. Adams Rite 8000 and 3000 use the K-106, Falcon 24/25 the K-129, Precision 2000 the K-124, Dorma 9000 the K-125. Your Jackson 1085 and 1095 openings take the K-108. One switch type, one wiring approach across the whole fleet.
7) Is the K-108 a request to exit switch or a latch bolt monitor?
Request to exit. The K-108 senses the push bar being depressed, not the latch. ACSI's latch bolt monitor kits are separate part numbers, the K-123 for Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99, and the K-127 for use with the ACSI 1500K-VD ELR kit on those same Von Duprin devices. If your access control panel needs to know the door is actually latched rather than that someone pushed the bar, an RX switch like this one will not tell you that.
8) Do I need to order wire or a separate switch with the ACSI K-108 kit?
The kit ships as a complete switch assembly with long wire leads already attached, plus the installation instructions. What it does not include is anything on the other end of those leads, so the mag lock, alarm panel, power supply, or console the kit signals is a separate order, and so is any door loop or hinge transfer needed to get the leads out of the door.
9) Is the ACSI K-108 switch kit approved for a fire rated exit device?
The K-108 is not fire rated. It is a commercial-grade electronic switch kit for the Jackson 1085 and 1095 Series. If the opening is a fire door assembly, the labelling on the exit device governs and you should not assume a field-installed accessory carries onto that label.
