1) Will the ACSI K-124 switch kit fit a Precision 2000 Series exit device?
That is exactly what the K-124 is cut for. It's a request-to-exit switch kit built for Precision 2000 Series devices, and the description also lists Precision 5000 electric exit devices as compatible. It installs inside the device in the field, so you're not replacing the exit device to get REX signaling on it. If your opening has a different brand of device on it, the K-124 is the wrong kit, ACSI builds a separate kit per device family.
2) I have a Von Duprin 99 (or Sargent 80, Falcon 25) exit device, which ACSI switch kit do I order instead of the K-124?
Match the kit to the device family. 3) Can a K-124 switch release a maglock for free egress when someone pushes the exit device bar?
Yes, that's one of its four listed uses. The switch signals the instant the push bar is depressed, which gives you instant release of magnetic locks for free egress. The same output can activate a door alarm, shunt a door alarm so authorized egress doesn't trip it, or signal a control console. How you wire it decides which of those it does.
4) Is the K-124 a latch bolt monitor, or does it only sense the push bar?
It senses the push bar. The K-124 signals when the bar is depressed, which tells your system someone is requesting egress, not whether the latch is actually thrown and secure. Those are different jobs. If you need to know the bolt is projected and the door is secure, that's a latch bolt monitor, and ACSI builds those separately, the K-123 for Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99 and the K-127 for the 1500K-VD ELR kit on those same devices. Some integrators install both on one leaf: one to shunt on egress, one to prove the door relatched.
5) I manage a building with alarmed exit doors that go off every time staff leave, can a REX switch kit fix that?
That's one of the exact uses for a Series K switch kit. Wired as an alarm shunt, the switch bypasses the door alarm for authorized egress, so a legitimate push of the bar doesn't sound the horn while a door forced open still does. On Precision 2000 Series devices the K-124 is the kit that fits, and it goes in the existing device in the field rather than requiring new exit hardware on every door.
6) What are the contact ratings on the ACSI K-124 request-to-exit switch?
The switch is rated 3A at 125VAC and 2A at 30VDC. On a low-voltage access control system that's plenty to drive a relay coil, a maglock control input, or an alarm shunt input directly. If you're switching a load heavier than that, such as a maglock drawing more than 2A on its own circuit, run the switch into an interposing relay rather than putting the load through the contacts.
7) Is the K-124 a single-pole or double-pole switch, and when do I need the double-pole version?
The K-124 carries an SPDT (single pole double throw) switch assembly, so you get one common with a normally open and a normally closed contact off a single push bar actuation. That covers most REX jobs: one circuit either shunting an alarm or releasing a lock. If you need two electrically independent circuits from the same bar press, say releasing a maglock and separately reporting to a monitoring panel on isolated contacts, that's what ACSI's DPDT kits are for, the K-200, K-203 and K-226 in the same family.
8) Does the ACSI K-124 come with wire and instructions, or do I need to buy anything else?
The kit ships with the switch assembly, long wire leads and installation instructions. The long leads are the point, they let you run out of the device and across to the hinge edge without splicing inside the rail. What isn't in the kit is anything that gets power across the door: a door loop or electric hinge, plus whatever relay or panel input you're landing the leads on. Plan that side of the job separately.
9) Does adding a K-124 REX switch to a Precision 2000 device affect the fire label on the door?
The K-124 kit itself carries no fire rating. That doesn't automatically disqualify the opening, but on a labeled fire door the exit device's own listing governs, and any field modification to a fire-rated device has to stay within what the device manufacturer permits. Also worth knowing on fire openings: a REX switch that releases a maglock is a life-safety circuit, so how it's wired matters as much as the switch itself. On a non-rated opening this is a straightforward field install.
10) Is the ACSI K-124 rated for commercial use, and is it an electronic component?
