1) Will the ACSI K-130 switch kit work on a Jackson 20 Series exit device?
That is exactly what the K-130 is built for. It is a request to exit switch kit matched to the Jackson 20 Series exit device and no other family. If your device is a Jackson 1085 or 1095 instead, the K-108 is the kit for those. Get the device family right before ordering, because the switch and its mounting are specific to the bar and chassis it goes into.
2) What does a request to exit switch kit in an exit device actually do?
It puts a switch behind the push bar so that pressing the bar sends a signal the moment someone starts to exit. On the K-130 that signal can instantly release a magnetic lock for free egress, trip a door alarm, shunt an alarm so a legitimate exit does not cause a nuisance trip, or report the exit to a control console. It is the piece that ties a mechanical exit device into an access control or mag lock system.
3) Is the K-130 a single pole switch or a double pole switch?
The K-130 uses a SPDT (single pole double throw) switch assembly. One set of contacts, both normally open and normally closed available off the common. If your job needs two independent circuits off one bar press, say a mag lock release plus a separate alarm shunt, SPDT will not do it and you want a DPDT kit; ACSI builds those as the K-200 for Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99, the K-203 for Sargent 80, and the K-226 for Hager 4500, 4600, PDQ 6200 and Stanley Commercial QED100, 200 and 300. There is no DPDT version listed for the Jackson 20.
4) Can the K-130 be added to an exit device already hanging on the door, or does it have to be factory ordered?
Series K kits are field installed. The switch assembly goes into the existing exit device on site, and the kit ships with installation instructions, so you are not replacing the device or sending it back to the factory to get request to exit signalling on it. That is the usual reason to buy one: an existing bank of Jackson 20 Series devices that now has to talk to a mag lock or alarm.
5) I have a mix of exit device brands in the building. Can I standardize on one ACSI request to exit kit?
No, and that is the main thing to sort out before ordering. Series K kits are cut for a specific device family, so a mixed building needs a different part number per device: K-130 for Jackson 20, K-108 for Jackson 1085 and 1095, K-100 for Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99, K-101 for Von Duprin 55, K-102 for Von Duprin 88, K-103 for Sargent 80, K-104 for Sargent 9600 through 9900, K-105 for Sargent 9300 through 9500, K-106 for Adams Rite 8000 and 3000, K-107 for Corbin Russwin 8000 and Yale 2100, K-109 for Yale 7000 and Corbin Russwin ED4000 and ED5000, K-129 for Falcon 24 and 25, and K-131 for Falcon 1690 and 1790. Walk the doors and count by device family, not by door.
6) What comes in the ACSI K-130 kit?
A SPDT switch assembly with long wire leads, plus installation instructions. The long leads matter on the install: you have wire to route through the device and out to the transfer point without splicing right at the switch. Power supply, door cord or hinge transfer, and the mag lock or alarm panel the switch controls are separate items you order alongside it.

They answer two different questions. The K-130 tells the system that the push bar was pushed, which is what releases a mag lock or shunts an alarm for a legitimate exit. A latch bolt monitor tells the system whether the latch is actually thrown, which is a door secure signal, not an egress signal. ACSI builds latch bolt monitor kits as the K-123 for Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99, and the K-127 for use with the ACSI 1500K-VD ELR kit on those same devices. Many access control jobs want both signals, on separate switches.
9) Is the ACSI K-130 rated for commercial use?
It is a commercial grade component, built for exit devices on commercial egress openings rather than residential hardware. Expect it in schools, healthcare, offices and multi-family common doors where a mag lock or alarmed exit has to release on push bar operation.
