1) Will the ACSI K-112 switch kit work on a Doromatic 1490 exit device?
The K-112 is the ACSI Series K kit built specifically for Doromatic 1490 and 1590 Series exit devices. It is a field installed kit, so it goes into a device already hung on the door rather than requiring a new device. If your Doromatic is a 990 or 1090 instead, the K-111 is the kit that matches those.
2) What kind of switch is in the ACSI K-112 request to exit kit?
A SPDT (single pole double throw) switch assembly, supplied with long wire leads and installation instructions. Single pole double throw gives you both a normally open and a normally closed contact off the same actuation, so the same kit can either break a circuit or make one depending on how you land the leads. If your panel needs two independent circuits switched at once, a DPDT kit is what you want, and ACSI builds those only for certain devices, such as the K-200 for Von Duprin 33A, 35A, 98 and 99.
3) How do I release a maglock for free egress from a Doromatic exit device push bar?
Mount the K-112 switch kit inside the Doromatic 1490 or 1590 device. Pushing the bar throws the switch, which gives instant release of the magnetic lock so the door opens on egress. The same kit is also wired to shunt a door alarm, trigger an alarm, or signal a control console when the bar is depressed, so one switch can cover the release and the alarm shunt on the same opening.
