The IX-NVP and IX-NVP2 are vandal and weather resistant sub stations designed for use with the IX Series system. It is SIP compliant and can be used with or without other IX Series stations. The station can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations, with the ability to assign up to three different call levels.

Sound files can be uploaded allowing for custom messages to be played during certain functions (door release, call placed, communication start, error message, etc.).

Aiphone IX-NVP – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the Aiphone IX-NVP door station run on PoE, or does it need a separate power supply?
The IX-NVP runs on 802.3af PoE, so a single Cat cable off a PoE switch or injector handles both power and network. Draw is 3.36 watts, well inside an 802.3af port budget. No local transformer or separate low voltage supply is needed at the door.
2) Will the Aiphone IX-NVP hold up mounted outside at an exterior entrance?
Yes. It is a vandal and weather resistant station rated IP54, with an operating range of -40 to 140 degrees F (-40 to 60 degrees C), so it is fine at an exposed exterior door as well as indoors.
3) What is the difference between the one call button and two call button versions of the IX-NVP?
Both are ordered as a Device Option on the same station. The single button version places one call destination group; the two button version adds a second button so visitors can ring a second destination, such as a leasing office versus after hours security. The station itself also carries a red mushroom button for a secondary call.
4) Do I have to buy a full Aiphone IX system to use the IX-NVP, or will it work with my existing SIP phone system?
It is SIP compliant and can be used with or without other IX Series stations, so it can register to a SIP server and ring SIP endpoints directly. Audio codecs are G.711 (mu-law and A-law) and G.722. If you already run an IX Series system, it drops in as a sub station on that.
5) Can the IX-NVP release the door lock by itself, or do I need a separate relay?
There is one contact output on the station, which is what you wire to a door strike or maglock control circuit. One output means one opening per station; if you need to control more than one lock from the same entry, plan on additional relay hardware.
6) How many units or stations can one Aiphone IX-NVP entrance call?
It can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations, with up to three call levels assigned. That covers a small to mid size multi-tenant entry or a facility where a call needs to escalate from a front desk to a second and third answering point.
7) Can I play custom announcements through the Aiphone IX-NVP door station?
Yes. Sound files can be uploaded to the station and played on specific events, such as door release, call placed, communication start, or an error message. Useful for ADA-style spoken feedback at a public entrance or bilingual greetings.
