The IX-SSA-RA and IX-SSA-2RA are flush mount, IP addressable emergency call stations. The IX-SSA-RA has a single emergency call button and placard with raised lettering and Braille signage. The IX-SSA-2RA has an emergency button and a standard call button with a call and emergency placard with raised lettering and Braille signage. The emergency button can be programmed to call up to 20 different stations. The call button can call up to 20 different stations. Both units are weather resistant (IP65) and connect to a network using Cat-5e/6 cable. Both stations are SIP compliant. Audio can be captured on a micro SD card. The stations have a 600output that can be used for paging or communication. There are 2 contact outputs that can be programmed to trigger during door release, when the 600 output is used, or based on the status of the station. Sound files can be uploaded for custom messages to be played during certain functions. The stations have audible and visual indications for calling, communication, and door release.

1) What's the difference between the Aiphone IX-SSA-RA and the IX-SSA-2RA emergency station?
Button count. The IX-SSA-RA has a single emergency call button with a placard in raised lettering and Braille. The IX-SSA-2RA adds a standard call button alongside the emergency button, with a combined call and emergency placard. Use the 2RA where you want routine assistance calls kept separate from the emergency call, such as a parking garage booth or a service entry. Both are flush mount IP addressable stations and both program up to 20 destination stations per button.
2) Will the Aiphone IX-SSA-RA survive outdoors in a parking lot or on an exterior wall?
It's built for it. The station is IP65 rated for water and dust, IK08 for impact, and carries a stainless steel faceplate. Operating range is -40 to 140 degrees F (-40 to 60 degrees C), which covers most North American exterior installs including unheated garages and northern winters.
3) Does the Aiphone IX-SSA emergency station run on PoE, and does it need its own power supply?
PoE handles it. The station runs on IEEE 802.3af class 0 PoE over the same Cat-5e/6 run that carries the audio, drawing 3.36 watts at 48V DC. If you'd rather power it locally, it accepts 24V DC from the PS-2420UL supply. It also does PoE pass through when fed from an 802.3at Type 2 PoE+ source, so a downstream device can be powered off the same drop.
4) Can I tie an Aiphone IX-SSA station into our existing SIP phone system?
Yes, it's SIP 2.0 compliant, so it registers to a SIP server and can ring extensions on your phone system rather than only Aiphone master stations. Audio codecs are G.711 (mu-law and A-law) and G.722. It also speaks IPv4 and IPv6, TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, RTSP, RTP, RTCP, IGMP, MLD, SMTP, FTP, DHCP, NTP and DNS, and supports 802.1X port security for networks that require authenticated switch ports.
5) Is the Aiphone IX-SSA-RA ADA compliant for an emergency phone in a garage or stairwell?
The call placard uses raised lettering and Braille signage, which is the tactile signage piece ADA asks for at an emergency station. The unit also gives both audible and visual indication for calling, communication and door release, so a hearing impaired user gets visual confirmation the call connected.
6) Do I have to choose a language when ordering the Aiphone IX-SSA emergency station?
Yes, two choices on the placard: English or French. Order the FR version for Quebec and other French-language jurisdictions where signage has to be in French. Pick that at the same time you pick one button (RA) or two buttons (2RA), which gives four orderable combinations in total.
