The ED910 and PEC910 exit devices are similar in function, yet different in form. The ED910 is a value exit device for everyday solutions whereas the PEC910 features a one-piece design with a patented permanent end cap – ideal for high traffic or high vandalism areas. Both products are BHMA Grade One certidfied and designed to replace or upgrade

1) What is the minimum door width and stile the Arrow ED910 needs?
Stile has to be at least 4-1/2 inches, so the ED910 is a wide stile device and won't go on a narrow stile aluminum storefront door. On width, the 36 inch device can be cut down for a door as narrow as 31 inches, and the 48 inch device cuts down to a 43 inch minimum door. Measure the stile first, that's the spec that rules it out.
2) Does the Arrow ED910 meet Grade 1 and panic hardware code requirements?
The ED910 is certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3, Grade 1, is UL and cUL Listed for the accident hazard (panic) standard, and complies with NFPA 101 Life Safety Code. That's the package a spec writer or facilities buyer normally needs for a commercial egress opening. It is not ADA compliant and not fire rated, so it does not cover a labeled opening or an accessibility requirement on its own.
3) Do I need to cut a mortise or prep the frame for the Arrow ED910 strike?
No frame mortise. The ED910 is a rim device, so the latch throws into a surface applied strike that screws to the face of the stop. The strike is nylon coated to cut noise on latching. Rim mounting is why this is the quickest exit device to retrofit onto an existing single door, and it's also why it won't secure a pair of doors without a mullion, since there is nothing to strike into at the meeting stile.
4) I have a pair of doors with no mullion. Will an Arrow ED910 work?
Not on its own. 5) Can the Arrow ED910 replace an existing exit device without changing the door?
The ED910 is built to replace or upgrade existing devices, and rim mounting keeps the work on the door face and frame stop rather than in the door edge. Two things decide it: the leaf has to be 1-3/4 inches and the stile at least 4-1/2 inches. If the old device was a vertical rod or a mortise exit device, you are changing the latching arrangement, not just swapping hardware.
6) The Arrow ED910 is not fire rated. What rim exit device should I use on a fire rated opening instead?
