1) Will the Codelocks CL460 fit an aluminium storefront door?
That's exactly what the CL460 and CL465 are built for. It's a narrow stile mechanical Codelock for internal and external aluminium doors, supplied complete with a threaded cylinder and cams so it drives the existing narrow stile lockcase. It's non handed, so the same lock works on doors hung left or right, and it mounts vertically on the stile.
2) Can a Codelocks CL460 replace an Adams Rite 4510 deadlatch setup?
It's designed as a retrofit for the Adams Rite 4510 lockcase, or similar ANSI round cylinder mortise deadlatches. The threaded cylinder and cams come with the lock, so it threads into the existing lockcase cylinder prep rather than needing a new door cut. If the door has a different style of lockcase, that retrofit claim doesn't carry over.
3) What is the difference between the Codelocks CL460 and the CL465?
The code free option is the only thing you're choosing between. The CL460 is non code free, meaning the code has to be entered every time to operate the lock. The CL465 is the code free version, which can be set to let the door open without entering a code during periods you want it left on free access, then put back to code entry. Everything else, the stainless steel keypad, the narrow stile body and the retrofit fit, is the same.
4) Do I have to order a left hand or right hand version of the CL460 narrow stile codelock?
No handing to specify. The CL460 and CL465 are non handed and fit doors hung on the left or right as supplied, with a lever handle as standard. For a property manager buying several for a building, that means one part number covers every opening regardless of swing.
5) How many code combinations does the Codelocks CL400 Series mechanical lock have, and how do you change the code?
The keypad has 14 stainless steel buttons in a 2 x 7 layout and stores a single code, with 8,191 non sequential combinations available. Code changes are made by tumblers off the door, so the lock has to come off the door to be re-coded. For a school or office that rotates codes on a schedule, budget the time for a removal rather than a keypad-entered change.
6) Is the CL460 codelock strong enough for a busy commercial entrance?
It's rated medium duty and built for commercial use, with a zinc alloy lock body and a stainless steel finish. Codelocks lists it for offices, schools, warehouses, hospitals, care homes, nurseries, hotels and leisure facilities. For a very high traffic main entrance you'd want to look at a heavy duty device instead; medium duty suits interior and secondary aluminium door openings.
7) Does the Codelocks CL460 need batteries or wiring?
Neither. It's a mechanical Codelock, so there's no power, no battery and nothing to wire. The code is held in tumblers inside the lock. That's the reason it gets specified on gates, storerooms and secondary doors where running power isn't practical, and it keeps working through a power outage.
8) Can multiple Codelocks CL460 locks be keyed alike across a building?
Keyed alike is available on the CL460 and CL465, so a facility standardising across several aluminium doors can have the key override match. Note the code side is separate: each lock stores a single code, so if you want the same code on every door it has to be set on each lock individually.
9) Can I get the CL460 with a knob instead of a lever?
The lever handle is standard, and Codelocks also offers a ball shape knob and a short lever handle for the CL400 Series. Pick the short lever where the door is close to a return wall or a frame element that a full lever would foul.
