1) Can I put an E-Plex 3200 pushbutton lock on a narrow stile exit device instead of an Adams Rite lock?
Only with an adapter. The E-Plex 3200 mounts natively to Adams Rite locks, and an adapter kit is offered for various manufacturers' narrow stile exit devices. Order the adapter along with the lock if the door has a narrow stile device rather than a mortise deadbolt or deadlatch.
2) Do I have to order the E-Plex 3200 handed for a left hand or right hand door?
No handing to specify. The 3200 is non-handed and reverses in the field, so one unit covers either swing and you can stock a single part for a building with doors going both ways.
3) What do I need to decide before ordering an E-Plex 3200 narrow stile lock?
Four choices. Locking device: dead latch for Adams Rite or mortise deadbolt for Adams Rite, matched to what is in the stile. Inside operation: narrow stile lever or narrow stile thumbturn. Key override: MS with a mortise cylinder in Schlage C keyway, or B with a 6-pin SFIC prep supplied less core. Finish: 626 satin chrome, or 744 dark bronze with brass accents. 4) Can I key the E-Plex 3200 into my building's existing SFIC master key system?
Yes, if you order the B key override. That version comes with a mortise shell prepped for a 6-pin small format interchangeable core, Best and equivalent, shipped less core so you drop in a core from your own system. If you are not on an SFIC system, the MS version ships with a mortise cylinder in Schlage C keyway instead.
5) Does installing an E-Plex 3200 require running power or wiring through the door?
No wiring at all. The 3200 is a standalone battery-operated pushbutton lock that mounts with four mounting screws on the narrow stile door, so there is no power transfer, no hinge wiring, and no pinched conductors in the door edge. That is the main reason it goes onto storefront doors where pulling wire through an aluminum stile is impractical.
6) How many people can I give codes to on an E-Plex 3200, and can I see who came through the door?
Up to 3,000 access codes and a 30,000 event audit trail on each lock. Codes run 4 to 8 digits, adjustable. Six authority levels control who can reach which lock functions, including service codes that cover anything from a single entry to four days of access and can be set up in advance for a vendor or contractor visit. Managing users and doors at that scale is done through the required Enterprise Software.
7) Will an E-Plex 3200 hold up on an exterior entry door in a cold climate?
The front housing is indoor/outdoor approved from -31 F (-35 C) to 151 F (66 C), so a northern exterior storefront entry is within its operating range. Construction is an extra heavy-duty lockset with a solid cast housing and a solid cast lever or thumbturn, and it is tested to meet BHMA Grade 1 life cycle and operating reliability requirements.
8) Can I set the E-Plex 3200 to stay unlocked during business hours and relock itself at night?
Yes. Passage mode is enabled by PIN or by key and can be pre-programmed to relock automatically after a set number of hours, anywhere from 1 to 24. That covers the usual retail or office pattern of unlocking in the morning and having the door secure itself without anyone remembering to go back to it. The other modes are PIN access and lockout.
9) Does the E-Plex 3200 let people out freely in an emergency?
Egress is always free from the inside. The lock controls exterior access by combination only, so anyone inside leaves without a code or a key. It also meets the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility standard.
10) Can I buzz someone in remotely with an E-Plex 3200?

It has an anti-tamper lockout you set yourself: after an adjustable 3 to 9 invalid attempts the keypad shuts down for an adjustable period of 0 to 90 seconds. Relock time after a valid entry is also adjustable, 2 to 20 seconds.
13) Will the dark bronze E-Plex 3200 match the aluminum doors we already have?
Two finishes are offered. 626 satin chrome gives you chrome housings and levers, and 744 dark bronze simulates 10B/613 with satin brass pushbuttons against a bronze housing. On a dark bronze anodized storefront the 744 is the closer match; on clear anodized aluminum the 626 is. Both finishes are available with either the lever or the thumbturn and with either key override option.
