1) Which Adams Rite locks does the Dormakaba E-Plex 3000 retrofit, and do I still need the lock itself?

2) Should I get the lever or the thumbturn version of the E-Plex 3000?
Both are narrow stile inside trim and both come on every locking device and keyway combination. The narrow stile lever retracts a latch, so it is the one for an Adams Rite deadlatch opening where people push through and leave without touching a key. The narrow stile thumbturn throws and retracts a bolt, which is the pairing for an Adams Rite deadbolt on a door that gets secured at close of business rather than used as a traffic door. Match the trim to the Adams Rite device already in the stile, not to preference.
3) Is a Sargent TR-8200 a like-for-like swap for a Dormakaba E-Plex 3000 mortise lock?
They are both mortise locks and both carry Grade 1 credentials, but they are not interchangeable at the opening. The E-Plex 3000 is the electronic pushbutton unit: exterior access by combination with free egress, up to 300 access codes per door, the most recent 9,000 events held in memory including use of the mechanical key override, and no wiring to or through the door. The Sargent TR-8200 is a heavy duty Grade 1 mortise lock in the 8200 Series with LN round rose trim, so if the codes, authority levels and audit trail need to carry over to the replacement, the E-Plex 3000 is the unit that carries them.
4) Do I have to specify handing for the E-Plex 3000, and can it be flipped in the field?
Handing is not an order decision on the E-Plex 3000. The lock is non-handed and field reversible, so one part number covers left and right hand doors and a stocked unit can go on whichever opening comes up. That matters if you are carrying spares for a portfolio of buildings, since you are stocking one configuration instead of two.
5) Do I need to run power or wire to the door for a Dormakaba E-Plex 3000?
No wiring runs to or through the door. The E-Plex 3000 installs with no wire installation, which is the point of it on a storefront or a remote exterior opening where getting a transfer hinge, a power supply and a conduit path to the frame would be most of the job cost.
