1200 Lbs. holding force.

The 2268 Series is a full size 1200 lb. holding force electromagnet. It is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames. With a low 2” profile, the 2268 is perfect for opening heights of 7’ or less to facilitate code compliance on designated egress doors. The 2268 is field selectable for 12VDC or 24VDC. Specify the RC option for AC voltage operation. Surge suppression is built-in and 12” long color coded wire leads are provided for easy installation. Optional integrated door and lock status sensors allow remote monitoring without the need to install separate “door contacts”. The 2268 is offered in single, double, and split armature models for both outswinging and inswinging doors. The coil and housing assembly mounts rigidly to the door frame while the armature mounts to the door in a manner that allows it to pivot slightly to compensate for door irregularities. When the door is closed and the lock is energized the armature is magnetically

• Non-Handed - includes a convenient area for wiring connections on each end of the lock.
• Adjustable mounting base reduces installation time and insures proper alignment.
• Low power consumption conserves energy, reduces operation cost, and extends battery backup time.
• A totally plated coil and armature provides protection against corrosion.
• No residual magnetism - the lock releases without delay when de-energized.
• Multiple monitoring options increases the flexibility, security and compatibility of system equipment.
• Low profile provides maximum clearance for underheight door openings. The lowest profile of ANY full size electromagnetic lock.
• Built-in spike suppression protects other solid state components within the system from damage when the lock is de-energized

DynaLock 2268-10 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the DynaLock 2268 12 volt or 24 volt?
Both. It is field selectable for 12VDC or 24VDC, so one unit covers either bus. Draw is 583 mA at 12VDC and 335 mA at 24VDC on the single coil model. If your power is AC, order the pre-wired rectifier bridge option for 12/24 VAC operation rather than adding a separate supply.
2) Can I monitor door position and lock status without adding separate door contacts?
Yes, if you order the monitoring options. The 2268-10 can be built with a door status switch and an anti-tamper switch, and with the Dynastat force sensor for magnetic bond status. Those integrated sensors report to your panel, so you skip installing separate door contacts. A bi-color LED is also available, but it requires the Dynastat force sensor.
3) Can this mag lock be used on a fire rated door?
The 2268 Series is designed for life safety and high security use on rated or nonrated doors and frames. It is a fail safe magnet: no residual magnetism, so it releases without delay the moment power drops, which is what an egress door needs.
4) If my local code requires delayed egress, can I use the 2268-10?
No. The 2268-10 releases immediately when de-energized, with no residual magnetism, so it is a straight fail safe magnet with no built-in egress delay timer. Where a delayed egress opening is specified, use a purpose-built unit such as the Alarm Controls 1200DE delayed egress magnetic lock for a single door.
5) Will a DynaLock 2268-10 work on a sliding door?
No. The 2268-10 mounts to the underside of the frame header with the armature on a swinging door leaf, and it is specified for outswing applications. For a sliding opening, the Schlage Electronics 320M is a compact mortise sliding door electromagnetic lock rated 1500 lbs holding force, listed as heavy duty.
6) Is there a higher holding force alternative to the DynaLock 2268-10 for a high security opening?
The 2268-10 holds at 1200 lbs. If the spec calls for more, the Dorma EML310 single door magnet is rated 1500 lb and is available with a door position sensor, or with both bond alert and door position sensor. The Schlage Electronics M390RFK is also a 1500 lb single door magnet with door status monitor, magnetic bond sensor and relock time delay, and is a direct retrofit for the Locknetics 390+. The ROFU 8031-002 shear lock reaches 2200 lb at 12/24VDC, monitored, though a shear lock mounts differently than a surface magnet.
7) Can I use a DynaLock 2268-10 where the drawing calls for delayed egress?
The 2268-10 is a standard holding magnet; its options cover an anti-tamper switch, door status switch, Dynastat force sensor, a pre-wired rectifier bridge for 12/24 VAC operation, a bi-color LED and a 1 to 60 second relock time delay, which is a relock delay rather than a delayed egress function. Where the specification calls for delayed egress on a single door, the Alarm Controls 1200DE Series is a delayed egress magnetic lock for single door applications.
8) Do I need to specify handing when I order a 2268 mag lock?
No handing to specify. The 2268 is non-handed, and it has a wiring connection area at each end of the lock so you can bring your feed in from whichever side of the opening is convenient.
9) Does the 2268 need a timer to relock, or is that built in?
A relock time delay adjustable from 1 to 60 seconds is available as an ordering option on the 2268-10. If you want the magnet to hold off for a set interval after a release signal without a separate timer module in the panel, specify it when you order.
10) Will 1200 lb holding force be enough, or do I need a 1500 lb magnet?
1200 lbs is full size holding force and handles typical commercial interior egress openings. If your spec calls for 1500 lbs, the Dormakaba EML310 covers a single door at 1500 lb and the EML320 does a pair, and the Schlage Electronics M390RFK is a 1500 lb single. For a light duty interior door where 1200 is overkill, the Schlage M420 is a 500 lb single door magnet.
11) Do I need surge protection between this mag lock and my access control board?
Spike suppression is built into the 2268, so the solid state components elsewhere in your system are protected when the magnet is de-energized. You do not need to add a separate suppression diode at the lock. It also ships with 12 inch color coded wire leads for the connection.
12) How hard is it to get the armature to line up with the magnet on an older frame?
The coil and housing mount rigidly to the frame, while the armature mounts to the door so it can pivot slightly and take up door irregularities. The mounting base is adjustable, which is what lets you dial in alignment on an out-of-true opening instead of shimming.
13) Is a surface mounted magnet the right choice, or should I look at a shear lock?
A surface magnet like the 2268-10 sits on the underside of the header with the armature on the door face, which is the quickest install and keeps everything accessible for service, but the hardware is visible. Where you need the lock concealed in the header, a shear lock is the alternative: the ROFU 8031-002 is a monitored 12/24VDC shear lock at 2200 lb. For a sliding door, the Schlage Electronics 320M is a compact mortise magnet at 1500 lb.
14) If 1200 lbs is more than I need, what is a lighter duty alternative to the DynaLock 2268-10?
For lower holding force on an interior or low traffic opening, the Dortronics 1107 is a narrow 2 inch slim line single door mag lock at 600 lbs, and the Schlage M420 is a single door electromagnetic lock rated 500 lbs. The Locknetics MG Series is also built in a 600 lb model at 12/24VDC. The DynaLock 2268-10 stays at 1200 lbs holding force.
15) Which magnet should I use if the opening is a fire rated door assembly?
The DynaLock 2268 Series is designed for life safety and high security on rated or nonrated doors and frames. Among comparable single door magnets, the Dorma EML310 is listed as fire rated and electrically locked (fail safe), available with a door position sensor or with bond alert plus door position sensor. Confirm the full assembly listing with the door and frame manufacturer either way.
16) Is there a slimmer alternative if my door opening height leaves almost no header clearance?
The DynaLock 2268-10 is already built for tight headers at a 2 inch housing height and 2-3/16 inch depth, which suits opening heights of 7 feet or less. If a narrower footprint matters more than holding force, the Dortronics 1107 is a narrow 2 inch slim line single door magnet at 600 lbs. The tradeoff is holding force: the 2268-10 delivers 1200 lbs in that 2 inch profile.
17) What are my options if the access control power supply only provides AC?
The DynaLock 2268-10 is field selectable for 12 or 24 VDC, and can be ordered with a pre-wired rectifier bridge option for 12/24 VAC operation. Comparable DC magnets include the Dortronics 1000 Series with field-selectable 12/24VDC and the Locknetics MG Series in 12/24VDC, and the ROFU 8031-002 shear lock at 12/24VDC.
